I use them to carve Sculpey Firm Polymer Clay. I'm much better at cutting and trimming polyclay than pinching and shaping it by hand because it warps and bends so easily, so I needed a good set of small sculpting tools. These are not the best quality tools but they are great for wax carving. There is some sort of metal pin on the underside of the blade that may have come loose in transit. If this is the case, you can unscrew the stem and then put it back into the head assembly and then tighten it again. The blades are very sharp and ideal for fine detail work. This is not the same as some of the wax chisels available which appear to have thicker edges and larger work surfaces. I could shave very thin slabs of…

Updated after one week of use. Now I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 3. Now that I have some experience with how the blades "click", I've learned to use the flexibility of the blades to my advantage. Advantage. I use straight blades to make vertical cuts and then use a scythe blade to scoop out the wax. Then use a spoon-like tool to smooth out the tool marks.
