Make sure you have a very long knife

One of the guides was torn when I received it. It wasn't a big problem because I figured I was only going to cut one or two slices at a time. However, it is too wide. The blade of my bread knife is 7 5/8" and the width with the plastic guides on the side is 7 1/2". Maybe you see a problem. I had to either make tiny saw tooth cuts or be very careful to make sure my knife was between the guides on the other side. It will not work. Since one of the teeth was already broken, I knew they would all…

Good bread slicer for the dollar

The Norpro bread slicer with crumb catcher was rated 3 stars because the bread slicer was poorly designed. Luckily my husband was home when the slicer arrived and he ended up assembling the slicer. I had problems because the bread slicer didn't come with assembly instructions. In addition, there was poor alignment of the pilot holes. The man had to align everything and carefully screw the screws into the pilot holes. The slicer works quite well. You can choose between a slightly thin slice or a

The uneven slices don't look bad after spending the money on them.

I was very very hesitant to purchase this product after reading the reviews but it was half the price of the next cheapest I was then able to find what I liked and bought it during a 4 in 3 kitchen promotion so I figured why not. I bought it to save money and eat better. I baked all our bread except sandwich bread because I just couldn't cut the bread evenly enough. I paid big bucks to buy bread that didn't have high fructose corn syrup. I figured if it worked I could save money by baking all…

  • There are cons

Well, now I like it. I think the construction is okay, but one of the plastic prongs broke off the first time I cut it with a very long bread knife. So rule number one, watch the knife tip and don't let it slip off the plastic tine because if you push the knife forward the knife tip will break the plastic. Okay, now you've fixed that problem. Next is the thickness of the bread. The standard thickness is fine, but I bake whole grain bread in my bread machine and this results in the slices being…

Very Happy: Mandolins and slicers

This is my third bread slicing tutorial. The first ones were collapsible for easy storage, which means they weren't strong at all and frustrated me to no end. The first was plastic, moved everywhere and could only hold 1/4 loaf at a time. The second was Bamboo which came in 3 different widths which I didn't need at all and meant I could only do 4 slices at a time. One of the foldable sizes was no longer locked so it was flexible and the whole thing moved even when placed on a cutting board. I…

I'm glad I tried it

I'm the worst slicer in the world. If you want a slice of what I bake, you'll either get a triangular slice or a slice that's too thin to lift. I knew I needed a product like this. The reviews for this product scared me. After reading the reviews for this product, I searched for a different bread slicing guide. I would take anything but that. But I couldn't find anything that suited my needs. Everything I found was either discontinued or had other issues. I was so desperate that price no longer
