Review on 🍞 Norpro Bread Slicer with Crumb Catcher Brown - Effortlessly Slice Bread with Precision! by Josh Reynolds

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very Happy: Mandolins and slicers

This is my third bread slicing tutorial. The first ones were collapsible for easy storage, which means they weren't strong at all and frustrated me to no end. The first was plastic, moved everywhere and could only hold 1/4 loaf at a time. The second was Bamboo which came in 3 different widths which I didn't need at all and meant I could only do 4 slices at a time. One of the foldable sizes was no longer locked so it was flexible and the whole thing moved even when placed on a cutting board. I am very happy with my new Norpro. Yes, it's a bit fiddly to assemble, but come on - it's four screws and takes less than 5 minutes. The other downside is that it takes up storage space, but personally I'm so annoyed with the folding crap I've tried that I don't mind because it does its job well. I plan to mount it vertically on a wall/apron so it's accessible but out of the way. I put it on a cutting board and it didn't wander over the counter when cutting. It's only one width but I only use it for sandwich bread so the size is perfect for my needs and the entire 1.5 pound loaf from a large Pullman pan fits on the cutting guide so you don't have to chop it up anymore need to cut just to cut it. The crumb catcher is very good. I just had to throw it in the trash. No more crumbling shelves and no more floor sweeping! Oh, a negative that I deducted 1 star for - one of the fins on the crumb tray wasn't glued. I had wood glue on hand and it was fixed immediately.
