One of the guides was torn when I received it. It wasn't a big problem because I figured I was only going to cut one or two slices at a time. However, it is too wide. The blade of my bread knife is 7 5/8" and the width with the plastic guides on the side is 7 1/2". Maybe you see a problem. I had to either make tiny saw tooth cuts or be very careful to make sure my knife was between the guides on the other side. It will not work. Since one of the teeth was already broken, I knew they would all break because the knife would keep hitting them. Yes I could buy a longer bread knife but I bought a pretty expensive one and don't want to buy another one.
