AWESOME!: Corers & Pitters

Super sharp, really great blades. The apple cuts effortlessly. The base is amazing and with a final little push the slices separate nicely. It's a bigger size than my old one, but the core is smaller and there's even less apple wasting. This slicer is absolutely perfect.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons

Perfect apple slices!

I bought this because my mother had a 16 piece apple slicer that mysteriously disappeared after her death. It was hard to find pieces of more than a dozen slices, but I like a thin slice for snacking or baking. This cuts twenty nice slices with almost no tearing at the bottom of the slice as it contains a very nifty cutting base! Great for young children or to make pretty apple tarts or apple pies!

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Easily repairable

Like a sharp knife through an apple

Cuts, dices, makes chopsticks! wait no But he's great at slicing apples. I'm a huge boy who won't eat an apple unless it's sliced and I don't like big slices. This makes slices the perfect size for dipping and eating. I have no idea what people are talking about not being spicy enough. It is razor sharp and went through the apple with little effort. He could probably cut the potatoes into sweet wedges.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for older people

I love this apple slice!

We have had the traditional 8 piece apple scissors for many years. When I saw this I was intrigued and excited as everyone in our family loves apple slices (even the dog). It didn't disappoint! Smaller slices are easier to share and eat, especially for children. Slicing requires a little more pressure than a standard 8 piece food slicer, but once you've got it, it's great! The included base is good too as it doubles the protection for the blades in the drawer and also helps in squeezing out the

Oversized slices but durability can be questionable

After trying Progressive 16-Slice Thin Apple Slicer's Prepworks twice and cracking both, I settled on Norpro NOR-5133 Grip-Ez Fruit Tool Wedge 16 Slice. I received it in September 2020 and although I have only used it to cut Ambrosia apples, the cracks shown in the picture appeared within 7 months. After looking for a full metal 16 slicer, I decided to give this one another try (I gave Prepworks 2 shots). I hope the first one was just a manufacturing defect and this one holds up better; If so I

Handles smaller apples

Works well with smaller apples. (Tip: Remove the stem, turn the apple onto the plastic base, and then set the center of the cutter at the same angle as the center of the apple.) Still, you definitely need strength to push the blades through. An elderly relative cannot do this. That last piece of apple is surprisingly difficult to cut, and I find myself smashing the base with the knife to push it through, the apple stuck firmly in it. This broke off a small piece of the base, although it isโ€ฆ

Reject all other apple knives!

Too bad I can't give this one 10 stars! However, here's a tip on how to use it: Since many apples don't sit vertically, with the core at right angles to your cut surface, start with the knife at the center of the stem and hold the apple vertically, as it were (using just enough force when using the slicer). to gently hold the apple), then PRESS the cutter down in one quick motion, but try to get it to STOP. Cut about 75% of the way - THEN insert the base jig into the base and remember to lineโ€ฆ

Good functionality, saves time, most likely will not last.

I got this for drying apples for family and friends. Overall I really like the product, but after using it for a few months (estimated at about 75 apples), there are a few design issues. Pros: It works and saves a lot of time. The metal blades (essentially welded razor blades) have so far held together without breaking, even with the force required to pierce an average apple (which requires some body weight). No accidents with finger cuts. The product is solid and although I couldn't find aโ€ฆ
