Good functionality, saves time, most likely will not last.

I got this for drying apples for family and friends. Overall I really like the product, but after using it for a few months (estimated at about 75 apples), there are a few design issues. Pros: It works and saves a lot of time. The metal blades (essentially welded razor blades) have so far held together without breaking, even with the force required to pierce an average apple (which requires some body weight). No accidents with finger cuts. The product is solid and although I couldn't find a dishwasher manual, part of the blade survived in the dishwasher with no problems. I hand wash the plastic guide. The plastic looks like it's about to melt. There is no rust on the blades yet. Cons: The plastic guide is slightly offset from the blades. Even if you line it up with the arrows, it's almost impossible to get the blades to run exactly on the guide. A guide is essential if you don't want to smash your fingers, run the risk of cutting yourself, breaking or damaging the blades, and be able to easily and safely slice through an apple. Given the force required to push the apple through, this is bound to result in damage to the plastic guide, which of course won't last long. This also leads to dullness and slight nicks (still) on the blades. This can lead to a knife breakage in the future. I will update when this happens. Overall it currently works and I'm very happy with the functionality, but I don't expect it to last more than a few hundred apples.
