Don't be shy because it's NRG - they got it right.

I love this quick release. I disabled the safety button for easier removal (they have an Allen key for this purpose). The features are as expected and seem to be of great quality too. Use with NRG short hub on my 1993 Mazda RX-7.

Pros
  • Hands Free
Cons
  • Unbelievable price

This is complete crap! - Steering wheels and accessories

Bought 6 years ago for a car that hasn't been moved about a month ago. After 500 miles the spring came out of the center block and the wheel was semi-stuck. Couldn't drive, had to be towed. To remove the wheel, I had to knock it off with a hammer. Also the color does not match the description DO NOT BUY!

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Only available in white

I liked it once I used it

Easy to install. Seems to be a good product but I've only been able to ride it once. Worked great removing the handlebars from my s13 to make it easier for me to get in and out with my extremely long legs. I took the security button out like so many others for ease of use prior to installation as it is a bit small for what it is and would have caused a headache.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • There are nuances

A bit clunky, placing the wheel a little further than optimal. I wish the horn pins could fit the adapter's quick release grommet (basically the notched part mounts directly to the steering and not through the gasket), but the seat adjustment helps. Couldn't find another traditional horn supported style of quick release and this original has a great fit and finish.

Pros
  • High support and durability ratings from testers
Cons
  • Poor maintainability

Great quick releases, crappy hardware!

So I bought this with short NRG hub and Sparco wheel. The device is really high quality, solid and the workmanship is really good (at least all in black). The only downside that made me deduct a star is the crappy screws that come with the Qr. I used my own professional hardened tip tools that I have used on many other screws and the heads on these button heads just took my breath away. I would recommend using your own set of screws. Anything you can buy at a hardware store in 10.9 steel or…

Excellent quick release with minor modification

Very strong construction with no play. Comes with lots of documents, a catalog and some stickers. Also includes 6 M5-80x20 hex flat head screws to attach to any 6 bolt hub. The steering wheel release mechanism is quite cumbersome just because you have to press the safety pin at the same time. Removing the simple M2 hex bolt that secures this pin improves the quick release by a factor of 10, making it easier to loosen the wheel while retaining all of its previous strength. Recommended for any 6…

Pros
  • Very good value for money

  • Older model

The benchmark for quick couplers and racing gear

These quick couplers are never cheap, but they're worth the money. The ones you see cheaper on eBay will wear out and give you problems in the long run, they seem to have been built to last. My only complaint is that some wheels with two knobs don't have a slot on the left and right side of the wheel to route the wires for them, this only applies to wheels with only a center knob. A small detail, but worth the attention. I ended up cutting a small slit with a grinder on each side to route the…

Good. with some caveats

I first bought a fake Gen1 type NRG quick release kit off ebay for about $30. After about half a season of racing at the track (6-7 HPDE weekends) the connection became lame so I went back and decided to buy the original. For track purposes, especially when wearing gloves, the larger trigger grip area is much better than the Gen1 or Gen2 grip area. I see no reason to upgrade to 2.8 or 3.0 gens as you don't really get any additional benefits. I think the 3.0 generation can even get in the way in
