Quality tool at Tools & Equipment

I've used it about 20 times and it still looks new. I lightly press the torque wrench against the hub with an 8" clamp to get the pins fully seated while I tighten the nut to spec. I believe this method is responsible for their longevity. I used a different brand of roller pins and they bent but that was due to the clamping method - figured this out when this one was in the post (didn't want to buy it again).

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Does its job BUT beware of one!

This tool gets the job done. However! Before purchasing, please note that the pins are NOT welded to the socket. The pins are pressed in and are more likely to loosen during use due to vibration. It has happened to me that the pins kept falling off when trying to unscrew and install the nut. I had to put them back in. I even tried putting them back in to see if they were a tighter fit but they kept coming loose. Again, it gets the job done which is why I gave it 3 stars instead of 1, but this…

Pros
  • Sleek Design
Cons
  • Availability Exchange

Excellent OEM tool; Wholesale price for retail purchase, awesome!

Received this just a day after purchasing O'Reilly's OTC version of 7921. I can't resist the temptation to compare what I've done. From a head-to-head perspective, this tool was more balanced than the over-the-counter tool. But out of respect for the more expensive OTC tool, I decided to test both. Conclusion: This relatively cheap instrument outperformed the more expensive OTC in terms of performance. I abused both when trying to really tighten the OEM wheel bearing locknut on my 2007 Tacoma…
