The name comes before the quality.

Before we talk about quality, let's mention the name. I bought 15-20 pieces for our customers to use in the field. My biggest complaint was that they are too fragile for normal use. The glass bulb breaks. I had one that didn't work at all out of the box. Finally, replacement probes cost half the price of a new probe, making the product disposable.

Pros
  • Instruments for substance analysis
Cons
  • slightly dented

Ignorant OEMs advertise β€œdisposable”

Good. I tried the Ohaus ST20 and after three months it failed. The electrode has burst and is now lying next to the HMS debris. It was handled with kid gloves but with real everyday use. And the electrode failed (which costs about $45 to replace). But even when it worked, the stylus had a few issues, the biggest of which was the eternity it took to get a reading. It's SLOW (at best). So no, I would not recommend this device or any similar device if the OEM thinks it's a good idea to sell a…

Pros
  • Testing, Measurement and Inspection
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

I have two and am happy with them.

High quality meter. For those who say they don't like it or are considering buying it: I work in chemistry for a living and I think it's a great gauge. I have two, the longest of which is about 8 months old. Thin glass electrode. it doesn't "jump" by itself. If it breaks, then it's not the meter's fault, it's the user's fault. Any pH meter must be stored and used properly. After use, rinse with deionized water, then dry with paper towel and store in a cap with 3 M KCl. If you don't do this, it…
