A very pleasant surprise.

I bought this to tiptoe into the world of the Micro 4/3 and see how it goes. Now I'm happy to say that all expectations have been exceeded. I have an outdated Olympus E-510 and am skeptical about the whole line of pen cameras. Now I'm a convert. I dived in because this camera and lens was very cheap. A week later I started planning my next Micro 4/3 lens. Well played Olympus, well played. Read other reviews here for details as they are accurate in their reviews of this camera.

Lives up to expectations

Already have an E-P1 and added two Lumix lenses on top of the original Zuiko 14-42. E-PL3 was bought for travel - P1 is a work of art too valuable to take with you when travelling. The E-PL3 is lighter and smaller than the P1, has a (durable) plastic body, but feels and works very well. Is it expensive. Match it with the original Zuiko 14-42, not the one it came with. The latter seems cheaper and less substantial than the original, although I can't vouch for its quality in action. This random…

Very good camera for the price

I bought this camera because I needed more features than Nikon and wanted to keep the price in a reasonable point and shoot range. However, the biggest advantage is that you can attach a fairly good lens and flash system (Micro 4/3rds lenses and Olympus remote flashes) and still have a camera that is easy to transport. This is a really compact system. I can fit the equivalent of a 100mm macro, a 28-80mm zoom, a 100-300mm zoom and a 90mm prime, two flashes and various accessories in a small…

No smart deal.

I really like this camera and have decided to keep it instead of the twice the price EPL5. It takes very clear pictures and copes well with outdoor conditions. Inside is a different story. I took a few indoor shots and they look very sharp at first, but if you zoom in a bit there's really noise. I would say that a kit lens indoors requires a flash or a tripod. I have great close-ups of flowers and bees. A small lightning clip is included, which even has its own velvet carry case. The battery is

A wonderful introduction to the world of MFT!

I love this little camera! I shoot with a Canon 60D with a variety of lenses and have also used an iPhone 5 (8MP) camera a lot over the past year, but I've been thinking about buying a quality compact (P&S) camera with a hot shoe and shooting. RAW. However, the $500+ price tag for the ones I was considering was off. After hearing so much about Micro 4/3 mirrorless cameras, I decided to look into it. When I saw that I could buy this Olympus PEN E-PL3 (Silver) for only $259, my decision was made!

Not perfect but good enough

Updated 19 February 2013: 2 things to mention. 1. I recently bought an Olympus FL-600R flash which gives you more control over the light despite the bulkiness of this camera. . In addition, the FL-600R flash recycles very quickly, allowing you to quickly take multiple shots with the flash, unlike the included slow flash. Definitely a recommended add-on that gives you much more flexibility in using your camera. I've definitely found that I get better pictures (especially indoors) much faster…
