On Stage MC7201 Round Base Microphone Stand - (White) Review

I have several tripod mic stands, but wanted to keep the footprint smaller because of the music stands, which are also tripod-shaped. I like the heavy foot that adds to the stability of the stand. And with a real counterbalanced mic stand, it's a winner. I'll order a few more.

This is a strong, heavy and indestructible metal stand. I use it to mount my high quality, high performance condenser microphones and 4K digital DSLR camera for recording. I trust the weight (heavy base) and balance of my most expensive electronics. That is hard. But you get the confidence to install valuable items. Not once did anyone hit or fall over.

I order this and it's a good weight but the rod literally broke off the base. I hate it because it's very beautiful. I've used it a lot since I've been a professional singer and it looks great in my performances. The thing is useless. The base is still good if I decide to play around with it and unscrew the broken part and replace it with a new stand. Not worth the trouble, I just replaced it with something else. It was stable when working properly.

I bought the chrome stand to use with my Shure Super 55. I'm 6'1" so I was a bit concerned that the stand might not be tall enough, but it turned out to be tall enough with small stock. If you are taller than 6ft 1in you may need an extender or possibly a taller stand. The round base is just the right size and weight. The overall quality is very good. I just replaced my tripod mic stand on the MS7701B tripod with this MS7201B and I immediately liked this one a lot more. The round base takes up much less space than a tripod base and feels much more stable; Even when tilted nearly 45 degrees, the weighted round base stands upright, but the tripod stand falls down with the mic.
