Great/easy conversion

This conversion kit is easy to fit, looks good on the bike and is great value for money. Comes with everything you need in the sealing field. Comes with two different sprockets so you can get your desired gear ratio as long as it's one of those two haha.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Some cons

Spacers are good but chain tensioners not so good

If you are looking for a cheap way to convert your bike to a speed this will work. The spacers are good but the chain tensioner is not so good. Check out Paul Melvin's tensioner if you're tuning a serious single speed transmission.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

When converting a frame with multispeed dropouts to singlespeed, the most important key to the entire setup is the chain tensioner. The chain tensioner in this package is useless and my bike should not be ridden until I find a better tensioner. The rest of the pieces in this pack have performed well.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Weak

Turned my full suspension 29er into a single speed.

I am an advanced cyclist and bicycle mechanic. I found an article online that recommended this product. With this item I was able to easily convert my bike after buying a chain whip and the right combination wrench. I'm sure I'll have to make adjustments, but since I'm doing the work myself I know what to do. Took me about 2 1/2 hours. I also had to replace my cranks which added to the time.

Keith works great! for cycling

I have installed this kit on two bikes and am happy with both models. I like single speed because where I am I ride a lot of snow, sometimes up to my derailleur. Because of this, I wanted to simplify my bike and fit this kit. It's highly adjustable, so you can actually customize the tensioner to suit your drivetrain. Additionally, optional spacers provide options for rear gear placement. My first build was stolen but I knew exactly what product to buy for my second. If I ever switch back to SS…

Poor quality/durability

The only item in this kit that I still use is the spacers. The tensioner has HUGE play (side to side) that allows the chain to loosen. The pulley gear has a bushing instead of a bearing, so it wears out after a few hours. The actual gear must have been made of inferior plastic as the teeth were also visibly worn. The two gears are fine, but it's just very thin, poor quality stamped metal; after a while they will bite your hub. I replaced the gears with Surly and replaced the tensioner with a…

Works great after some modifications.

The best thing about this kit are the spacers. The gears are decent. My biggest problem was with the tensioner. When I first installed the tensioner and shortened the chain as much as possible, I noticed that it was too tight. I couldn't pedal backwards without a lot of effort, and normal pedaling was loud and felt like stepping through mud. This could probably be solved by adding a few links to the chain to hold the spring in a weaker position, but this seemed counterintuitive compared to the…
