Better than I had hoped.

At first I was worried it wouldn't do what I wanted. To my pleasant surprise, it worked even better than I expected. I used the mini DVD that came with it to install the driver. It went smoothly. After installing the adapter, I boot my 27" iMac from Late 2009 (Mac OS 10.12. I quickly figured it must be because I installed it in a hub instead of the iMac itself. I have the USB Removed device from back of iMac and it's been working ever since Download speeds are even 15-30Mbps faster than the…

Reliability issues

I'm pretty tired of this adapter. When it works, it works very well with good fast internet. But then it seems like every ten minutes or so the connection drops for about 15 seconds (long enough to kick me out of an online game I'm playing). I've tried to fix this problem by installing the exact drivers they refer to on the product page and restarting my computer, router and modem, but I still get this problem. I've also tried several different USB ports but still experience these dips. I would

An essential tool for your PC's emergency kit.

Worst case scenario: hard drive failure and no backup. Replacing the hard drive is easy. Finding drivers, especially network drivers, can be the deciding factor. If you have Wi-Fi, plug this wand into any USB port on your dead tower or laptop before proceeding with a clean install of Windows 8.1 or 10. BINGO! Here's your WiFi port! Connect to your network and let the combination of Windows Update and your PC manufacturer's website work its magic. It turns out that there is a USB WiFi driver on…

It only lasted a MONTH. then

bought this on a whim, as an impulse buy [by hitting the add to cart button] and then, also typical of my stuff, it was hidden/lost for almost a year while I did house renovations. After reopening it a month ago I decided to return it and give it a try. I'm not sure how much of a real quantitative difference it's made because I'm an old man, not a young man, tech savvy - I need things that 'just run', plug and play things make. Spring. I'm guessing he's only been running for a month with a…

Measurable speed improvement over built-in laptop WiFi.

Nice little adapter. I bought this to improve download speeds on a huge Toshiba Windows 7 laptop and it took the laptop from 17 Mbps to 25. Nice jump, but not as much as I was hoping. Other laptops in the same room (same 2Wire hotspot, same 18m distance, same 3-4 walls) have 20Mbps throughput, Toshiba peaks at 17-19Mbps with built-in Wi-Fi 802.11N, and after a few days without rebooting, it slows down gradually to the range of 5-6 Mbps (probably a leaking packet buffer in the driver). The…
