Great running hat for those who need to protect themselves from the sun

I'm probably the most easily burned person on the planet so even with sunscreen on I'll still be glowing bright red. And as I prepare for endurance races, I will be out more. The OR Sun Runner cap is fairly breathable - I've taken it on night runs and it breathes well. The "cape" that covers the ears/face/neck is easy to remove (two top buttons and one back strap) if you only need a cap. and their sunscreen products are top notch. And it's pretty cheap compared to other "sporty" baseball caps…

Beautiful and protective!

I wear this hat to protect my ears and the top of my head from the sun when I run. Yes, it's a little hotter than wearing a visor, but protecting my skin is worth it, even on sunny days and almost 90 degrees. I love that it protects the neck and when I tighten the chin strap it also protects the front of the neck. I would agree with another review I read somewhere that it would be better if the curtain was an inch or two longer, but that's a minor complaint. Overall I am very happy with this…

You look like an idiot, but who cares when everything is so good!

As the name suggests. This sunshade is fantastic, the hood is great and the hat itself is very light and fits well on the back. In fact, I've hiked the canyons and mountain ranges of Southern California for many years and this is one of my favorite pieces of clothing. You can pull up the hood to protect your face or pull down the drawstrings to get a cool breeze around your neck while still providing sun protection. That's incredible. I chose white because I wanted the coolest option for my…

Fun and goes with a bike helmet

I saw a really cool guy on Trike Gypsies wearing one of those sun hats. A term I've found for it is "Legionnaire's Hats" and despite some differences, it will work just fine. It was meant to be worn under a bike helmet, but I really bought it just for fun with my bike friends. The bill could have been longer to be a better sunscreen and protect your face from the rain but it should be fine. I use a long-billed baseball cap under a bike helmet, but it gets too hot. I've looked at some of these…

My favorite for maximum sun protection

I've had this hat for 5 years now with no problems but I'm just starting to use the cape a lot. I used to find a sun cloak a bit ridiculous and often wore a hat without it. I have had one of these hats for over 5 years and have worn the cape sparingly. But having recently taken it with me on a 180 mile hike with a raincoat, I will definitely use it with a raincoat in the future. The skin on my face and neck looked very nice compared to my bare legs. I've noticed a few other cape hats on the…

Overall a very good hat, the cape could be a bit better

I was attracted to this hat because it looks like a regular hat without a detachable cape. Also because it is thin and apparently promotes sweating. It didn't disappoint on the above points, not a cape, it's a great hat and everything I could have hoped for (more on the cape below). I have a larger than average head (I have 7 3/8 - 8 caps) and size L , one of them fits me with no issues, I just had to raise it a bit more than the "middle" position, the "middle" " is where the adjustable Velcro…

Comfort and practicality balance the odd look.

I'll start with the cons. This hat looks a little silly with a sun cloak. In addition, the cape can block out the desired wind better than traditional wide-brimmed sun hats, and the mesh panels on the sides of the hat close up when the cape is attached, slightly reducing breathability. Everything else is positive. First, the hat is very light and comfortable. Although sold in different sizes, it still has a velcro closure (like many baseball caps). The cape is detachable and securely fastened…
