Replacement timer

I had a previous version but it had to be replaced after MANY years. This new version works the same way. It's bigger and the numbers are arranged differently (zero on the far right). I don't like touch buttons, the alarm clock is terrible and it no longer has a clock function, but the Oxo is *always* a good product. To be honest I wish they hadn't changed it but I'm glad it's as reliable as the previous one.

Pros
  • Brilliantly made
Cons
  • Expensive

Lack of backlight makes design ineffective

As another reviewer said, it looks sharp, but the lack of backlight is very annoying when the timer is ticking. It's very difficult to read. I've also owned the old model for a long time and prefer it, although this model has a more modern design. Unfortunately it still gets three stars because it works and there is no competition on the market! If you need this functionality, get stuck with this poorly designed element. It works, just not as well as it could.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Previously: Wife-Approved™

My wife is a Flavor Country™ citizen, a serious cook and has purchased other OXO products in the past and has been very pleased with the results. Same here with the timer, although we only had it for a short time. But basically everything we get from this company is well made, handy when it needs to be handled (like pliers) and just high quality stuff. No exception in this case. If you see one of their products win the American Test Kitchen shootout, don't hesitate. :)

What happened to OHO?

Wasn't OXO previously known for usability testing? This timer turns off the display and is literally unreadable except for the first and last minute of the time interval. I want to know at a glance how much time is left. The display is a lot brighter than the old OXO triple timer - I suspect they added dimming to save battery life after realizing the brighter display was draining the battery too quickly. Very bad design. The vintage car was the best of all. I have to classify this as hardly…

Very good timer, nice display, easy to use

This timer is very easy to set up. I love the number keys which make this timer stand out from others on the market. The missing backlight is a bit disappointing (after a 60-second break). This makes it a little harder to read, but not impossible. But I would like to point out that the display will turn on again when any of the 3 set timers reach the last 60 seconds (see my video). So this is a huge bonus! Just the sight of the display turning back on draws my gaze from across the kitchen. so i

Simple input times!

I love this timer! Three independently programmable timers that can be coded directly via a ten-digit keypad. Easy to use! The backlight goes off after a minute, as other reviewers note. I understand why people don't like it as without the backlight it's harder to read the output screen but not impossible. With this confirmation, however, I've found in practice that I don't even look at this thing until it starts beeping at me. And when I want to read the output, all I have to do is press any…

I love this thing! at Kitchen & Dining

Despite some bad reviews on this product I love it! Yes the timer goes dark after a few seconds (or a minute?) and the first time this happened I thought I had lost the time set! However, dimming the screen saves battery power. It's still readable and I have no problem with it. It is very comfortable! I was using the iPhone timer/alarm and it was just annoying. Especially if I just needed to calculate something in a minute or less. And having 3 timers is awesome! It's easy to set how long you…

Universal triple timer

The OXO timer came quickly and at a reasonable price. Pros: * Auto countdown at end of countdown so you know what time you are * Numeric keypad is more efficient than increment/decrement on other timers. * Backlit numbers are easy to read in the dark. Negative (small)* digits are visible only when the backlight is on. Sometimes you have to press a button to see them. The backlight also consumes some of the battery power.* The memory is for the last shot only. You cannot store "5 minutes" for…
