Poorly designed corkscrews and bottle openers

Gripper slips off edge of can before piercing is complete. Pay attention to the picture of several attempts. I can't believe the church keys they made 60 years ago when I was a kid worked better than this one.

Best Church Key

I'm tired of the poor quality openers. It's nice to spend some money on something like this! Thing looks great and works great - if you're reading this review, just buy it! I've bought four so far - one for my regular dish drawer, one for the BBQ, one for the "beer cooler" and one for my mother-in-law.

Poor design, best corkscrew and opener

The can/bottle opener is attractive and the material looks good. The thing is just badly designed. I've tried opening three sizes of jars with it. The grappling hook and the "push point" are NOT positioned correctly. It slips and does not reach the opening. All in all a waste of my money. The end of the bottle opener can work. I didn't have to use this ending. I'll hold on to my rusty old cheaper So uncomfortable from a company with a supposedly good reputation.

Problems seem to be fixed

I bought one of these a few years ago and was very disappointed. I missed the return window so I tried to tweak it from time to time without getting it working properly. On a whim I decided to order another one just to see if they fixed the issues. Good news, they have! The punch tip is noticeably sharper and the ridge that is meant to grab and hold the edge is now very pronounced and holds up very well. In addition, the overall finish is also better. This is a stamped piece of steel and the…

Opens bottles well. Banks are not very good.

This part is good for opening bottles. Unfortunately, the end of the can opener leaves a lot to be desired. They were kind enough to send a replacement but unfortunately the replacement didn't work any better than the first one I received. Difficulty opening the jar as the opener tends to slip off the rim. It's doable, but not as easy as my previous can opener (brand/origin unknown. It was from the 70's or 80's and has been passed on.) Guess they were willing to get it right, but I just don't…

I cannot shame my feelings about this can opener and bottle opener.

My wife and I love OXO products. We already had a bottle opener, but we needed something to open film canisters. In case you don't know, black and white film canisters open fully in the dark (because black and white film is sensitive to red light), so something that can be used by feel (not sight) is extremely important. I love that this particular can opener is made from a single piece of metal so it doesn't snap off when we're in the darkroom and it has a slightly comfortable grip (important…

Great opener, terrible hit

One of these knives has been in my kitchen for a few years now and I love it so I recently bought another one to use at the bar. The one I received was defective: the tab on the end of the punch didn't rotate properly so the punch didn't catch the edges of the cans to pierce them. After reading the reviews here, it seems like everyone who uses it to open bottles is perfectly happy, but everyone who uses it to punch cans says it's useless. And although I agree, at least for those that are being…
