🍷 OXO SteeL Wine Stopper Pourer for Improved SEO Review

It was so loose I didn't even dare to fill it as it slipped out so easily. For some reason I was expecting it to stretch to stay in place rather than just having to squeeze in and hope for the best. I think it forces me on. I go the other direction to find an expanding cork that I replace.

I liked the idea of this product but it is not. At first, it jumped out of the wine bottle by itself, indicating poor design of the rubber mechanism. Secondly, when you try to lift the lever, it comes loose or is loose enough to leak. Third, you have to hold it awkwardly or press down on the metal tip, which is a bit sharp-edged.

Looks great but I've been using it for two months and am throwing it away. For real. They don't sit very well in the bottle so you never know when it's going to fall out. (Causes all sorts of problems when you pour red wine.) I don't usually write negative reviews, but they do for $10 each (and I've bought three). I am extremely disappointed!

After reading the reviews I was concerned but ordered anyway. The one I had for 10 years worked fine but the rubber stopper started to break (probably from putting it in the dishwasher). The spout isn't as long as my old one but the cork goes in fine, there is a final squeeze and 'pop' that should be felt, the bottle sits flush with the bottom of the spout. I can see where people who have never used this before might not be using it fully. Works well!

Several reviewers mentioned an "old" model that worked fine, but when OXO enlarged the threads on the top of the stopper, it wouldn't install properly. I can't compare but I attest to the fact that the one offered here will not fit that way to avoid spills and accidents. It seemed such a good idea that I ignored those reviews (or at least the part about the 'new' model).

I agree with some of the other reviews, the edge is very sharp and for most it's the main point to press for a secure fit. that is my main problem. It doesn't close in every bottle. Ordered two of these stoppers, one for myself and one as a gift for someone else. None of them will fit a standard small wine bottle or medium sized bottle stopper. Too short for a secure hold. pulls straight Very disappointing. I have previously ordered another Oxo cork from Revain which fits great but is probably 1/2-1 inch longer than what I just described above and therefore goes deeper into the bottle.

I liked this particular pourer because it's dishwasher safe. I also love that I can pour it into my Marsala bottle with one hand while using it in the kitchen. The only sharp edges are on the top of the spout itself and you don't need to touch it when inserting. It also goes well with a bottle of New York sherry.
