Description of ๐Ÿšด Bicycle Disc Brake Pads for Sram Guide RSC R Avid XO Elixir 7 9 Trail 4 Piston MTB Disc Brakes - 2 Pairs (Resin, Semi-Metallic, Sintered Metal)

Sintered metal brake pads handles high temperatures and resists brake fade so power lasts longer. Better in extreme conditions like mud, water and where there are gritty, sandy trail surfaces. XO brake pads excellent power and durability,Resist fade better under heavier braking loads,Ideal for downhill. High heat resistance,Metal disc brake pads that provide reliable braking power across wet and dry weather conditions. Higher friction braking than semi metallic and resin pads ,Superior stopping power in all weather conditions, and longer pad life.

Type of review

An experienced bicycle mechanic who rides mountain bikes in the summer. Decided to save a few bucks and give these a try. I bought two sets front and rear (4 sets of pads) for Sram Guide brakes. Cleaned the rotors with rubbing alcohol, installed the pads (had to reuse the existing Sram wrist pins as they only come with a cotter pin) and installed the pads properly (15-20 heat cycles). First ride, Shvik and limited stopping power. Pads and rotors cleaned again, rotors sanded (wet/dry sandpaperโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Higher braking friction than semi-metal and polymer pads. Excellent braking power in all weather conditions and longer pad life.
Cons
  • A few little things

Excellent stopping power and reasonable price

Riding a Palm Canyon Epic on a salsa saw, I took these brake pads "just in case" with cornering good during some on the longer descents, my rear pads disappeared and my lever moved closer to the handlebars. At our next stop I quickly replaced the worn pads with these, they fit well making them a quick replacement, my lever was back in position and off we went, after the first pad installation they work great, many stops. Performance, pretty smooth and quiet, glad I tried it, will update as Iโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Better in extreme conditions such as mud, water and sandy pavement surfaces
Cons
  • Reliability

Inexpensive, good performance with some issues

First, these pads have a thicker backing material than standard SRAM pads. Much thicker: so much so that you'll likely run out of brake play and might even need to pump some fluid. I have Guide R brakes, 2018 model. Braking performance is the same as OEM. They make more noise and squeaks than OEM and have a shorter lifespan than OEM. The main disadvantage: you will blacken your rotors. SRAM pads leave your rotors clean and shiny, but these pads make my rotors look like I've rubbed some resinโ€ฆ

Pros
  • XO Brake Pads Great performance and durability, better standing under heavy braking loads, ideal for downhills.
Cons
  • Not sure
