Sharp priced at

This lens is a good choice when zoom is not a major concern but a small optical zoom with image stabilization is needed where the size switch can turn it off when using a tripod. It's a manual, non-motorized zoom that you rotate clockwise for telephoto and counterclockwise for wide-angle. Only 14-45mm, but sharpness is very good across the range. I used it so it was even better. It can be used with an Olympus body with strong image stabilization, but the Olympus lens doesn't work as far as the…

Ideal general purpose zoom for the M43

I have several M43 primes, each a little sharper, faster and with higher contrast than this zoom and when I'm looking for the best possible results I use one of them. In fact, the differences are almost imperceptible at 8x10 magnification and are not noticeable at all in online images. If I'm just wandering around with a camera and lens I usually go with this one as it's very sharp with some softness around the edges and has a focal range of 14-45mm (equivalent to 28-90mm in a 35mm lens) . )…

I will definitely take it instead of 14-42mm.

The first thing that struck me about this lens was the build quality. Despite being relatively small compared to a full-size DSLR lens of the same focal length and aperture, the 14-45 lens feels like a small brick. From the nice looking front lens, barrel and metal lens mount, it's clear that this lens is better quality than the 14-42mm kit lens, even the newer "Power Zoom" 14-42. I decided not to buy the G3 camera with the standard lens in the kit, but bought the camera separately and then…

14-45mm lens as a basic zoom for Panasonic M 4/3 housing

Hello, I am a part-time photographer with many years of experience in film and digital. I bought the GH1 body at a good price right after the GH2 and 14-45mm zoom came out. I prefer the GH1 because its lower resolution sensor produces less noise than the GH2 (DxOMark sensor test), and the 14-45mm lens for its reputation. I use my camera and zoom (quite often) when I want to travel light. I shoot raw and edit all my shots in Photoshop. In terms of quality, size and weight, I think the body and…

A very decent "kit lens ", comparable to many other kit lenses.

So this is my second native MFT lens and I'm comparing it to a Leica 25mm f/1.4 and a forced 18-35 Sigma. I hated this lens because it looked too sharp for video for my liking, even with sharpness set to 0. At f/3.5, this lens is still super sharp in the center but falls off quickly towards the edges. the edges. At 8:1 it's very cloudy compared to other lenses. It also has strong chromatic aberration from f/3.5 to f/4.8. Once you stop down to f/5.6, the aberration disappears. Excellent…

Sharp, well made but long at 45mm magnification

I have an Olympus E-P3 with a 17mm 2.8 plate. I like the pancake for snaps and the ability to carry the camera in my coat pocket, but I need the zoom for flexible outdoor shooting. After shopping, the Panasonic 14-45 landed on my doorstep. It's small compared to a DSLR lens, but it took my skinny E-P3 from pocket to camera bag. It's really long with the included petal-shaped hood. I mounted an old Nikon lens hood with a 52mm thread on it and took some of my "baby" with me. The build quality of…

My Opinion: Panasonic 14-45mm vs. Panasonic 14-42mm

14-45mm clearly outperforms the 14-42mm kit in terms of build and smoothness. My 14-42 has a harsh/sticky cheap zoom to the touch. The 14-45mm doesn't feel at all like a kit lens (which it used to be) and is clearly superior in design and performance. A recent 14-42 ride on the back of a GX1 on a fairly cold day was a little disappointing. Handling the camera and using the hard zoom ring was awkward. Even on a tripod, it was two-handed operation. Visually, everything is much closer. With 12…

Great whale zoom!

Compact, light, fast autofocus, effective stabilization, excellent sharpness. No problems with light fall-off. My main camera and lens is a Nikon D200 standard zoom 17-55mm f/2.8 for $1,300; So I'm used to professional quality lenses that offer excellent edge-to-edge sharpness, neutral colors, consistent edge-to-edge brightness, very little flare, etc. I bought a Panasonic GF1 and a 20mm f/1.7 as a more portable alternative to my lens. SLR camera. I carry a GF1 with me every day, so I shoot my…
