OK basic tool type

Useful tool for budget steel headsets. Don't use it on a nicely designed campy headset. This wrench is a little big, and the slim profile is a sure way to leave a mark on a good headset. I ended up using an adjustable wrench to tighten the top nut snugly. The OLD Park instruments have been made much better. I had no complaints about the accuracy of the dimensions.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Good but not great

Decent headset key

I usually love Park Tools and after working in a bike shop for a few years I appreciate their excellent quality. However, this key had several disadvantages. The steel is very hard and the price is decent and although it's just over 32mm it worked well. If only Pak had rubberized the grip to make it more hand-friendly. I paid full price for this item.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • weak

Works as it should and not a bad price

I'm giving all stars here as in my experience the metal is hardened enough that it doesn't really warp and being snug enough on a quality headset won't slip . This option has the advantage of fitting your two main sizes of threaded fittings. As often as you come across these types of headsets today, this is a purchase for life. It might have some legitimacy in not having a soft grip, but it's also long enough that you don't have to use as much force with the leverage it gives you.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Zero

An essential and excellent wrench for bikes with a threaded headset

If you have a bike with a threaded headset then this is probably the size wrench you need for servicing. This wrench is laser cut from heat treated steel, which I believe is HRC 60 or so (that's a measure of Rockwell hardness) with about 0.75% carbon. (if I remember correctly) This means this wrench will not bend or fail you when you apply 80Nm of torque to try to unscrew an old rusty headset. (I know a month ago I fixed a 30 year old bike with this wrench) And that's exactly what you needโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Damaged
