A professional tool that is invaluable when needed but not always needed

This is a well built tool that works very well. As a professional wheel builder, you must have this (or equivalent). However, a proper pro-quality attitude can come so close that it becomes more of a "final check". I don't want to discount this tool, but with other (high quality) wheel tools it would be lower on my list of (more expensive) shop tools. As precise as the wheel is, I prefer to attach the wheel to a real bike.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Difficult to say

Works but needs improvement

Works well, too easy not! The biggest downside is the depth gauge lock knob. Once you've placed the feeler gauge close to the wheel axle, turn the knob to hold the gauge in place. When you tighten the knob the gauge actually moves, what a poor design, especially from Park Tool! You flip the wheel and check the other axle, but you don't get a very accurate reading because the dipstick moved when you tightened the bolt. A screw probe would be much better, especially if it reads in millimeters.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Good, but not great

Great Cookware Tool

I successfully and quickly aligned my wheel with this parking tool. After the spoke was broken and replaced, and then the wheel adjusted and reinstalled, it rubbed against the badly misaligned brake pad. Bought. The park tool is easy to use, very accurate, I'm glad I bought it. I tried to buy a cheaper instrument but somehow Revain sent it to the wrong place and then refunded my money. Then I spent an extra $14 to buy this one and get fast shipping (Prime). I am very happy with this purchaseโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!

Works great on 29 " BOOST mountain bike wheels! Worth the cost.

Yes it is possible to build and make a camber tool but I didn't want to waste time. Revain The price of this park tool was spot on for me and it will come in handy on any balance bike I work on for the foreseeable future, as opposed to my dresser which is now obsolete with 29 PLUS balance wheels with BOOST hubs The tool is as Park Tools made to be expected, well made, easy to use and retains its accuracy.I added a 'puck hack' as mentioned in other reviews so tightening the crank doesn't moveโ€ฆ

Interesting design but a must for wheel builders.

It's a little strange to use, but once you get used to it, it's great. The old alignment tool was a bit easier to set up. He had a more accurate indicator. But so far I've found a way to use it to check that the blocks are hitting the rim and not the tire. Insert the middle part of the sensor into the concave part and tap it against the wheel axle. Make it so that when you move it back and forth on it, it erases the axis. (Check play) And then flip the wheel and look at the back. You shouldโ€ฆ

10mm washer makes it better

When I first used this otherwise well-made tool, it was obvious that the knob that secures the depth sensor was difficult to set "just right" with it the sensor doesn't move when i fixed it for depth. I added a 10mm stainless steel washer between the handle and the probe and that solved the problem (the washer fits snugly in the groove that the probe slides into). I can now adjust the knob to allow the sonde to slide easily through the depth and then tighten the knob a little to keep the sondeโ€ฆ
