I was originally sent a green used old one which apparently someone sent back after replacing the part. But I ordered another one and it works and fixes the pump issues.

This item has an o-ring inside to keep water but that's not enough, it just keeps water for a while and then gradually seeps out. I do not know why. my old flapper valve is even better. Eventually I need to install two together to hold more water. This plus is my old fip style.

I'm sure it will work properly and look well built BUT it looks like regular leaded brass. It carries a health warning label when used with water for human consumption.

I have used a couple of these pumps on my irrigation pumps and none of them have worn out as is usual with PVC models. Closing an irrigation well airtight is not easy for the hobbyist who does it every now and then, so a longer-lasting control value is very important. It costs a little more, but it's worth it.

I use this check valve at the entrance of a well to a house. The goal is to prevent water from flowing back into the well pipe when the pressure is shut off. This particular valve is well made and works as expected. Cast brass is slightly higher quality than many other brass fittings I have purchased over the years. It has a good strong spring and works without too much noise.

I had a PVC check valve on my shallow well pump but it wouldn't hold the suction when the pump lost pressure. In freezing conditions I would cut power and depressurize to protect the pump and then have to manually reprime the pump. This one doesn't. When I depressurize the pump, the check valve keeps the water at the top of the fountain and the pump will turn on again as soon as I plug it in, no matter how long it's been off.

This 1-1/4" brass check valve is very well made for the price. It was a lot cheaper than some of the other big brand brass check valves I reviewed. It works great with our 3 inch jug pump and maintains its flowering time between uses. The internal check valve opens to allow full 360 degree flow and is also made of brass with a stainless steel spring. I don't see the specified opening pressure. on the box, but it's low enough to work well on a well riser about 36 inches below a manual jug pump.
