The first disk gave errors; then his replacement gave error

I put this in my main laptop and installed FreeBSD on it. Got a bunch of ATA/CAM errors when trying to write to and read from the disk. Tried it on my wife's laptop. The same mistakes. Tried on another laptop I had. The same mistakes. Tried installing OpenBSD on all three machines. Same read/write errors. Tried to install Debian Linux on all three machines. Same read/write errors. Sent back for exchange. Tried the same process on all three machines with all three operating systems and got theโ€ฆ

Compatibility issues with older SATA controllers.

I bought this to upgrade my old system with a SATA I controller. The controller does not recognize the SSD. I tried two other controller cards (SI chipsets) and neither of them could see the drive. When I put the drive in a SATA III system it worked fine. I ended up pulling an old Crucial MX200 SSD out of the laptop for use in a legacy system and putting that SSD in the laptop. Both had the same capacity (120GB) so I could copy the raw image directly to them. This SSD works great in a laptop. I

It works and is cheaper SSD

4 stars but added 5th star for Patriot's toolbox software. use buoyancy. Patriot has a very nice downloadable ToolBox that was kind enough to make some Toolbox features work on other non-Patriot drives. = good SSDs, but other options could be better. I installed a 480GB and 1TB version of this, 480 is an OS disk for an older SATA/2 machine, so the PC itself is the limiting factor. Everything about this machine was impeccable, which significantly accelerated its commissioning and use. The 1TBโ€ฆ

The 240GB Patriot Memory Burst SSD is good low-end non-primary OS storage for about $31. Installing SSDs is easy: when you connect, make sure you use the Windows Disk Management feature so you can assign a drive letter to make it visible on your PC. I use it as a portable SSD to transfer and store files between systems. As for the disadvantages of Patriot Memory Burst, two stand out the most: 1) The official software (called SATA Tool Box or Phison Tool Box) for Firmware Update, SSD Summaryโ€ฆ

Mediocre write speed

Having owned several high-performance Patriot flash drives, this budget SSD was fascinating to look at. The one star reviews got me thinking, but I've made my decision. Two weeks after working with customer service, I send back the Revain CD. Actual performance is underpowered compared to advertised speeds. Detailed benchmarks: CrystalDiskMark's early results showed 550 MB/s for write speeds, but surprisingly only 64 MB/s for reads. Patriot support was helpful and responsive and offered to test
