We used to store our SDs in the zip along with all the plastic sleeves - it was a mess. The outer case is made from fairly hard plastic - more like the US and not overseas. The same goes for the foam inside the case, it's thick and dense rather than open cell foam so the chips fit snugly and won't fall out even if you open it up and turn it upside down. If we are traveling abroad or in harsh environments I would opt for an aluminum or titanium body, but this body will be kept in our camera bag.
