Poor materials, poor workmanship

It was so poorly made that the lid fell off when I took it out of the box. At first I thought it was bent thin staples, but even the nails I used to fasten it won't hold in cheap chipboard. Very disappointed.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Nothing here

This is cheap junk.

This came from each of the steps that were separated from the base. I figured it must require assembly. I was wrong. It was made of very cheap soft chipboard, and the nails that (didn't) hold it together were as thin as needles. Very disappointed. Not worth the price!

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • A few little things

Pet ladders are attractive and of good quality.

Exceeded all expectations. Durability was our main concern as our little Taz tends to be apprehensive at times and even refuses to use our other fragile dog tiers. Not the Penn Plax carpeted steps, which he liked immediately and offered him safety and comfort. Our pup loves the carpeted steps and we appreciate his good looks.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Little things

Ships unassembled

Yes, assembly required! That means gluing different parts. I bought 2 of these and both arrived broken and torn with sharp nails sticking out. Great design and idea but now I need to figure out how to fix it. Why? Because I'm immunocompromised and can't just go to FedEx to get them back during Covid. I'm incredibly angry!

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Some thin. Fitted free on arrival.

Parts fell off upon arrival, there are several boards under the steps that are held together with large staples or thin wire nails, they are not really held together with screws. My husband rebuilt it and reinforced it with better hardware. Our older dog can help her climb onto the bed, she weighs less than 20lbs. I wouldn't trust it for larger dogs even though it's rated for more weight.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons
  • Reliability

Very happy with Penn Plax 3 Step Carpeted Pet Ladder

We have 5 small dogs, 2 seniors and a 24 year old cat. We have been using pet ladders for many years to help pets climb onto the sofa and bed. Most of these ladders are weak or unstable. This brand, Penn Pax, is the best we've had. It's the perfect size, very durable, easy to clean and comes fully assembled. It doesn't get much better. Worth the price.

  • Weight

Good product! suitable for cats

I have three Chihuahuas that either can't jump on furniture or I want to keep them from jumping to prevent back problems. I bought a smaller ladder and was a little apprehensive due to some bad reviews, but the ladder's durability was exactly what I was looking for. Foam just doesn't hold. I am very happy that I chose this product! The ladder is the perfect size for small dogs. I had the two tier foam version of the same size and my dogs either couldn't climb the large ladder or were afraid itโ€ฆ

Great for small and/or old dogs

This product was purchased to help our elderly cairn terrier get on and off the couch. Despite his age, he still tries (sometimes unsuccessfully) to jump onto the sofa and I was afraid he would hurt himself. Above all, his departure is missing. I introduced him to these ladders when I could observe him and he started using them quicker than expected. He got used to the top fairly quickly but is still a bit cautious on the descent probably because he has poor eyesight and depth perceptionโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Trial for one year
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
