Works best on radio controlled fences

This works well with our existing invisible fencing system. Our control box says ICT700. I was concerned that it might not be compatible, but it was very easy to set up. I found that the batteries I had for the earlier "official" collar didn't work, but I can deal with them. Honestly, why are these collars so expensive? At $168 I consider this a steal.

The company endorses its product

This collar is perfect for our invisible fence. I bought the R21 collar in April. In early July, my dog managed to pry the pin off the receiver by breaking the plastic part where the pin goes. I contacted the company and they quickly sent a new receiver. Very happy with the product and great customer service!

not as shown

DO NOT ORDER THIS ITEM. This is not what is advertised. They replaced a rechargeable unit that is much thinner than the one pictured here (but for some reason instructions are included for a removable battery unit). IFR710, not R21. This wasn't a one off mistake as they shipped the same wrong item when I requested a replacement. Available at a much lower price on other sites.

Good replacement for the invisible fence collar

This is a good replacement for the invisible fence collar currently available for $400. The seams should be well done, they seal the battery better. I have a dog that keeps losing the invisible fence battery and these batteries are half the price. Remember to check the frequency when replacing the invisible collar and get the right frequency of 7K or 10K.

The collar broke after 1 year of normal use

The collar worked perfectly for 1 year before the plastic body of the collar broke. The top and bottom are broken as you can see in the photo. It's extremely disappointing that a $160 collar is going to break in a year. We are very diligent about only using dogs outside and taking care of our belongings. There is no heavy wear and tear on this device. A $160 collar shouldn't be thrown away after a year of use.

Broken in half: Dogs

Likes: 1) Cheaper than alternative 2) Easy to set up and use Dislikes: 1) Outer shell split after a few months 2) Collar doesn't hold up, needs constant tightening to maintain tooth contact3) While the impact power increases as you get closer to the fence, there is no way to adjust the impact power at a specific distance. With popular brand collars, you can add shunts to the collar to reduce shock loading.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • I'll write back

Works best in learning and behavioral tools

So far so good. Our 20 lb pug now has a collar. This was the previous fence (IV) we put up, but the dog has since walked through it. So years later. It works as advertised. Our stubborn pug ran twice but is learning. It was more our fault. I would like some starting flags to be part of the package. Our 2 year old is blind in one eye so it's trial and error with what we had. To chart a course, we had to determine what he could see as we trained. But I recommend

Such an expensive thing is short-lived

Worked great for the first time, taught the dog to go around the fence. But after my initial training and personal trust in the system, it stopped working and eventually my dog will learn to approach safely and jump off the line again. An expensive product that only lasted 6-9 months before failing. Discuss whether to buy another one. I had the device for about 3 months before the first battery gave out. I even survived 2 battery changes. But now 6-9 months have passed and the collar justโ€ฆ

  • The best
