Pet Products Lectro Temp Control Review

I have a very large tortoise that lives outside in an isolated barn. It has a heat mat for cold days and it is connected to a temperature controller which I received in November. Now it doesn't work anymore and the turtle had to freeze at night for three days without heating until we realized that it was broken. Very dissatisfied. Luckily the turtle made it, but I'm looking for another brand.

Obvious old-school design. (I bought one of these about 13 years ago and it was identical in all respects) but it's quite effective for its intended purpose and priced right from this seller. My only real complaint is that the dial is actually too light, as it's very low-friction and can easily be accidentally shifted out of the desired setting. I used a felt tip pen and made a small mark where the pen should be.

I bought this remote control together with the large upholstered K&H Lectro outdoor bed. I was concerned that the bed would be designed for much colder weather and would be too warm for my cats to sleep on comfortably. After getting readings that fluctuated over 10 degrees with a tested/stable thermometer I decided to toss this thermostat aside. It's a shame I threw away the packaging. I specifically bought a Lectro-Kennel Heat Pad to go with it. And to be honest, I'm getting temp readings from 102 to 107.8 with the pad alone (which should warm up to a stable 102 degrees by default). With the thermostat, I did NOT see a consistent pattern even with the temperature whether it was all the way OR all the way up!

This is the second one I've had to buy. The first just stopped working without being damaged or showing any outward signs of a problem. It just stopped working in the sense that whatever was connected to it wouldn't turn on at all, regardless of the rheostat control setting. I had the first one for a while (over a year) but only used it about a dozen times before it stopped working. I haven't found a better replacement product so I rate it as OK. With two beds I had to use two controls at the same time, the other one next to LOW to keep the bed from getting too hot. It is not recommended, but has worked for years without problems.
