You can do that! for faucet parts

Works as advertised on Avanti shower faucets. Purchase food grade silicone to lubricate the o-rings. Sand the mixing area of the internal shower valve where it slides with 400 grit sandpaper, then 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Limescale and the pH of the water will corrode the seals on it. Ports where water enters either side of the valve's mixing zone get sharp edges and raw calcium that corrodes the seals. After sanding, apply silicone with your finger to the inside of the mixing area of the…

I'm glad I found a genuine factory replacement.

A quality replacement part that will restore the smooth running of the shower handle. But to get my shower valve working like new again I had to thoroughly clean the brass shower valve body and also remove all green corrosion from the brass valve body with several different sizes. fine wire brushes. Once the valve body was very clean, I lubricated the replacement cartridge with clear plumber's grease. Now the shower valve works well and smoothly again. So spend a little time cleaning the hole…

Not made in Mexico as advertised

I like that it's easy to turn on and off. The old one was tough. Still drips every 10 seconds or so. Apply silicone grease to o-rings and all threads of other parts. My old one was at least 10 years old, he came with me into the house. I didn't like what was made in China when it said it was made in Mexico. There's metal in there. On fig. 2 the upper package is open, closed, but not glued. Part #974-2920 is missing from the cartridge, same part number as the old 19202. The dripping has slowed…

Right side fits faucet Parts

I replaced the original Pfister cartridge 974-292 with this 974-2920. I called Price Pfister to confirm it was the correct replacement cartridge. I picked up some plumbing grease here to put some on the o-rings before installation. My cartridge lasted 28 years so I sprayed penetrating oil on the retaining ring, cleaned it with a wire brush a few hours later and dug up that little protrusion with a flat head screwdriver as someone else suggested (thanks). . Collar twisted slightly for removal…

  • Out of fashion

The cartridge fits well and prevents leakage. The hardest part is removing the old cartridge. Mine got stuck after 30 years. after turning off the water. The solution is to remove the crystal handle, remove the chrome trim, unscrew the knurled thread sleeve with a large crescent wrench and expose the cartridge. This is where the fun begins. Insert the screw into the cartridge and then clamp the vise onto the shaft. Squeeze the stem and then pull it out vigorously. made the cartridge come out…

Buy Original for Faucet Replacement Parts

You probably didn't land here because your shower is leaking, but because without the strength of Hercules you can no longer pull the handle out. Hard water deposits will cause these valves to bind and not move freely. This is the replacement valve you need, not cheap $10 clones. The difference is that the internal shutter of the clones is plastic while the original is metal. Installation Tip: Before removing the valve, unscrew the metal tube and lock nut, then SAVE the handle/screw to make…

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers

  • Crumpled

changed cartridges in 3 different bathrooms/showers in our 25 year old house. A few minor leaks have been fixed and all of our faucets are working incredibly well. Small suggestion: if you are trying to remove an old cartridge (I mean OLD) and it appears to be cemented due to calcification, use a smaller flathead screwdriver to pry the small black tab at the top. Ours must never have been changed by previous owners and they have been GOOD there. We tried everything, vinegar for hours (even…

New life for an old soul.

About 30 years ago I installed 3 shower systems using this controller. One shower had some sort of cementitious material stuck in the pipes (poor plumber, no malfunction of the shower parts) which kept getting into the valves and damaging the controls over time. It's gotten really stiff lately probably due to the lube I've used to rebuild it over the years so I finally found this part at Revain and replaced the original valve. That works great! Getting the old value out was a pain but the new…
