Great CAD workstation

Collected parts for my new workstation in Revain and New Egg for the last 6 months. Now it was built. WOWWindows 7 Pro 64bitWEI=7.0 CPU temperature is 60F when idle and 104F when launching AutoCAD 2011. It starts and opens Windows 7 in less than a minute after pressing the power button. SSD power! No build issues, it ran first time and didn't miss a beat, runs cooler than my old quad core processor and keeps up with CAD. My new CAD workstation is fully bottom mounted in a repurposed HP Pavilion

WOW I AM SUPER PUMPED :)

I have an old HP Pavilion p6733w that came with an AMD x2 core which was fine for the price I paid for the computer. I do a lot of photo editing on PS CS6 and WOW this processor is a beast. I had three videos loaded into Photoshop at once and was working with large raw files open on Facebook and open raw cameras. WITHOUT PROBLEMS, without slowing down! You can also overclock this processor, I didn't do it because I don't need it. I'm not really a gamer but I do edit videos and photos so I'd…

Great upgrade for older AM3 PCs with 95w TDP limit

I used this to upgrade our home server which was running an old Athlon II X2 dual core processor. Between our Plex server and the Rust server, this dual-core processor just couldn't keep up. I added a Wraith cooler and 16GB of RAM to this little one and suddenly we can stream Plex to two TVs while hosting two separate Minecraft servers and a Rust server for my friends with no issues. Being as old as this one is a monster processor and was a great purchase for our family home server.

A worthy upgrade for the price

Considering the value for money, everything is fine. This appears to offer a slight performance boost for most Adobe CS6 programs. Namely Premier and Photoshop. Surprisingly, most of the speed gains came from upgrading the AMD 5570 GPU to the 6670. Perhaps the GPU has become a major player in desktop media mastering these days. If I had to do it all over again, I'd stick with the quad-core Athlon 2 and opt for a premium Radeon 7000-series card instead of spending over $200 to upgrade two…

Easy to install and works great.

This is absolutely amazing, it's overkill for my system at the moment, but I plan to benefit from it for a few years, combined with a few other updates. For my motherboard it should be 95W (for anyone wondering it's N-Alvorix-RS880-uATX (Alvorix)). I want to fry my $116 by doing something wrong. But I have to say that it was very easy. Pretty much remove the old fan, remove the old CPU, and then install the new ones. I ran into a small problem as the fan cables have a 4 pin connector while my…

New life for my old PC

I bring old computers back to life. i do it for fun I do this to keep them out of the landfills. I do this to provide cheap computers to people on low incomes. And I even upgrade my old beast from time to time - part here, part there. When my ASROCK motherboard died, I bought ASUS because I could reuse all my other hardware. However, since ASUS allowed me to install an AM3 processor, I later bought it to upgrade. And what an update it was. This ASUS/AMD combo is still an old configuration, but…

Great little workhorse

Yes, old, but I have older hardware that is compatible with it. If I had to upgrade to a new FX with six or eight cores it would cost me 40-50 more than buying this old Phenom II X6 to upgrade my motherboard, but I don't sell for 4 modules equal to 8 cores (single modules = 2 cores) The only downside for some would be the terrible heatsink that came stock from AMD, I reused my Corsair liquid cooling from my Phenom IIX2. Very satisfied, just wish I got this when it was a lot cheaper. :)

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Quick start guide
