good things in portable audio video

I bought this because I don't have an iPhone so I was glad to find it on Amazon. I have HTC Amaze with Android operating system. I use it as an alarm clock every day. I like that it starts out soft and gets louder as the alarm goes off. I like the bluetooth connectivity. I don't dock my phone or plug it into the included jack. I connect via Bluetooth to play music so I can still get around with my phone when I'm texting or browsing Facebook. First of all I managed to listen to the music that Iโ€ฆ

It's pretty cool.

Updates my alarm clock which I have had for over 20 years. yes 20. (save, but.) the thing works great! The sound is decent enough (it's not BOSE or Beats) but good enough. The selection wasn't bad for me. I'm on 950 sqm. ft., and I had no problem driving it around my house. oh, and arrived in 2 DAYS! I didn't want to receive the Phillips app; It didn't get good reviews at all. But. I didn't need it! It was pretty good right out of the box. I probably set it up and connected in about 5 minutesโ€ฆ

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • No instructions

This product was so poorly designed that I gave it away.

There was no quick start guide as stated on the box. I answered the phone. It took several hours for the dock to sync with my phone. Once that was done, I set the alarm to MF; he called every day. The snooze buttons are hard to reach, and you can't tell by touch whether you're snoozing the alarm or hitting the snooze button. The dock is so high you have to sit down to see what you are doing. It also takes up a lot of space. And finally, you need two hands to connect your Android to the dockโ€ฆ

Works well overall, but good luck with the microUSB charging port.

The dock works well overall. Has most of the features I was looking for. There really should be more of these for Android tablets and phones. Problem with the microUSB port. They've done a really good job of making it flexible for all sorts of phones and tablets, but it also gets brittle. The one I received was not charged. And our tablet has microUSB in the corner (that's Dell, it has microUSB in the corner, worst place). Despite Philips' heroic efforts, our tablet didn't quite keep upโ€ฆ

Not as cool as I was hoping

Bad: Bluetooth connection drops in the middle of the night if not actively used. So in order for my cell phone alarm to play through the speakers, I MUST use a night sleep aid to keep the bluetooth connected. So I'm deducting a star - Could be a bit more intuitive and user-friendly, especially when it comes to setting the time - There doesn't seem to be a backup battery in case of a power outage. (Another reason I use it as a speaker dock rather than relying on the alarm device itself.) Pros: -

Great when it works - and it doesn't last long

I bought this for my son in July (5 months). It worked fine when I first got it. Using the apps was a bit buggy, so I skipped them and used them mostly for Bluetooth music streaming, phone charging, and alarms. After about 3 months, he no longer woke up to music. All we could hear was an annoying hum. I figured that wasn't such a big problem. The baby needs a steel band to wake him up anyway. And just a few weeks ago, he stopped charging his phone. At first I thought the phone's charging portโ€ฆ

Charging complete Phone

Updated information: In fact, communication with the manufacturer was easy. I explained the problem. They sent me a replacement quickly and I returned the defective unit for their pennies. Problem solved and the new one works like a champ. I think my only complaint right now is that I would like the keys to be quieter/softer to press. It makes a strong clicking sound that is too loud. --------------- Original Post -------------- Received this unit just after Christmas. I was happy with theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • There's something in there
Cons
  • Needs an outlet

A serious problem with this product is not really a Philips fault. Android phone developers are responsible for using Micro USB. I'm not sure about the iPhone 5 with the new Lightning connector, but the old Firewire connector was good for docking for two reasons. 1) It was wide and strong and provided a good base to hold the iPhone upright and secure. 2) It transmitted power AND data to charge your phone and didn't require Bluetooth or a separate cable. The problem with Micro USB as a dockingโ€ฆ

Great hardware, but no software!

The reason I bought this is because I wanted an alarm clock that would allow me to set an alarm from my phone. I wanted to be able to just set an alarm on my phone and plug it in so that in the morning the alarm would be loud enough to wake me up and my phone would be fully charged. Here are some of my findings: The fidelio app is TERRIBLE. It freezes all the time and it's so illogical. It prompts you to download Songbird when you first launch it, which I didn't because my phone already has aโ€ฆ
