Pioneer external drive bundle includes a 1 pack of 25GB M-DISC BD-R and USB cable. EQUIPPED with super lightweight design (230g) for the slim portability and USB 3.0 connector. SUPPORTED WITH M-DISC: compatible with M-Disc, a special disc that is treated with a super hard coat to prevent scatches and resist fingerprints for long-term data protection. SMOOTH MOVIE PLAYBACK: PowerRead feature enables the drive to bypass obstructed areas of a disc and attempt to move forward quickly to the next available data point, resulting in smoother playback. A SMARTER DRIVE: Enabled with Auto Quiet mode, the drive monitors and adjusts accordingly to high speed for fast data transfer and low speed for stable music/movie playback.

It works if you do everything right.

purchased; tried to burn M-Disc. It took a few hours and then said the verification failed even though the disk was fine (I didn't verify every file!). This was on a Mac which the seller says works. I've tried updating the firmware and getting Pioneer's Mac "Drive Utility Lite" but that doesn't help. Apparently for Mac you have to buy separate software for another $110 or so. I then tried it out on a Windows 10 machine using the included clunky but useful "Cyberlink Media Suite". This failedโ€ฆ

Movies are out. Not enough power and does not come with an external power supply.

That was a waste of time. When playing movies, I hear my computer "disconnect" the USB 3 drive. This will stop the movie playback and reconnect a few seconds later. Then you need to restart the movie and find where you left off. I've done some research and it's common for a USB device to have no power. I took a closer look at the drive and there is a connection for a 5 volt power supply, but this device was not included in the box. DO NOT BUY! I just hope I can find my original packaging so Iโ€ฆ

Junk Computer components

It was junk, never worked. I even got an extra power supply, but nothing. Revain didn't take it back because customer support wanted to talk about how it works. I've been building my own computers for the past 20 years. I tried updates and all. I threw it away I was so angry. $120.00 was lost by the unlucky tourist.

Works well but is slow

When I ordered this product I wasn't expecting such great results. I needed a replacement for my SONY drive that was over 5 years old. Times have changed to make ODD obsolete, but I've amassed a huge collection of DVDs, Blueray. So all I needed was readability and this one works fine but is a bit slower than my Sony. Except for this and without the 5V adapter, this product is ok. By the way, Amazon offers an LG at a much lower price, but I avoided it due to the bad history with LG ODD. LGโ€ฆ
