The aesthetic is beautiful. functionality. not so good

We bought four of these because of the stylish design. You look good on your bike. However; We had to send it back because the plastic button broke during shipping. We thought it was a coincidence, but now I think they're just badly designed. Of the four bottle cages we still have, only two have lasted more than a year. The other two parted in the middle. Not only are the plastic buttons fragile, but the welds feel flimsy.

Pros
  • This is amazing

Haven't lost any water yet

When I originally bought this cage I was hoping it would fit my 21 ounce bottle of CamelBak Podium, but unfortunately it didn't Bottle too small wide. I still use my CamelBak every day, just not while driving. Instead, I resorted to simply filling a standard water bottle. The cage was easy and quick to install and securely holds my water bottle. I'm sure you could spend more, but if it works great, why would you? And maybe it's just that I'm new to cycling, but promoting it as a 'bombproof…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers

Holds the bottle securely, doesn't stand it.

I had two of these and both broke after about 5-10,000 km. That's probably fine for the average cyclist, but if you do a lot of cycling you'd be better off with something more powerful. To be fair to a planetary bike there is a tradeoff between reliability and how securely the bottle is held. This cage is designed to be split down the middle, which allows you to comfortably hold bottles of different sizes. The fact is that the holder is more likely to break. If you want a "split down the…

Excellent cells, so far they have held up.

I bought two of these cages for my father's bike. He has been using and loving them since he got them but on a trip (we were together) just 7 months later one of his cages fell apart where the bracket was welded. He was left with a bottle and half a cage in hand. The mount was still attached to the bike. We set up the cage and he put the bottle in the back pocket of his jersey for the rest of the 50 miles, but what a bummer. This cage hasn't been used much either as he rides a few times a week.

Looking good while exercising

I don't want to scold this item but it has some imperfections that may not be noticeable. I really liked the look of this thing on my bike, but replaced it with a more conventional cage for two reasons. First, the smaller diameter bottles tend to fly out of this thing, and the cage's two "knobs" press against each other. the other at a certain point when you try to bend it to pick it up. People who drive carefully or only drive on the slickest of surfaces may never experience this. As for me…
