Difficult to install properly

I bought this because the computer I bought only came with a front wheel mount for the sensor and I was going to use the trainer indoors for a few months so needed to I the sensor should be on the rear wheel. The sensor works great but doesn't take into account how far the back of the bike frame is from the actual wheel. With a tolerance of 2mm, it's impossible to get the sensor and magnet closer together without using about 2.5cm of rubber. Once you install it, it's great, but beware of this…

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Useless features

Ideal for stationary machines

Love it! Works as advertised. I mounted the mounting end to the handlebars and worked my way to the rear wheel. The cable is not very long, but sufficient. My husband had another computer on his bike and hated it. For a long time he was the only one who rode a bicycle. I ended up jealous of his weight loss and fitness and bought a trainer for my (underused) road bike and Protege 8. Once I set up the Protege 8 with the cable installed there was no problem. Now I've "done" over 400 miles with no…

Complicated installation

Complicated installation. I wanted the rear wheel to be used on a balance bike. Only the rear wheel spins. The cable uses a sensor attached to the seatstays. A magnet is then attached to the spoke of the rear wheel. The distance between sensor and magnet should be 2-5 mm. On my derailleur bike, the distance between the spokes and the seat stay is huge. Planet Bike support suggested a pad. It must be a big puck. I used a piece of pool noodle and a felt furniture glider. It worked! The spoke…

  • Robust design
