The name says it all. Stripping CAT5/6 any other way is a waste of valuable time. I'm not saying it's the best tool of its kind, but I don't see any way to improve it. I use it at work and have it at home. Pros: Huge time saver Extremely easy to use Cons: It's not free, it just would be better

I have two different Cat 5e cables from .

I have two different Cat 5e cables from Home Depot and this cutter is too big. It just wraps around the wire and doesn't cut anything. The packaging states that it fits diameters from 0.18" to 0.25". I measured my wire at 0.19" and 0.20" for the two samples I had, which had to be within the range it could handle. I'll keep looking for one that works.

Very impressed with this little instrument. I use that.

Very impressed with this little tool. I use it all day on a Cat 5. I've found that you only have to do a full turn to take the jacket off. In addition, the wires can break. I hadn't cut any wires with just one twist, and since I'm new to the tool, I checked my wires closely after each cut. Not a single problem. Out of curiosity, I tried this tool on a very thick Belden 10-wire cable and it didn't work. Too thick and the jacket on this material is really hard. HELP.

Excellent stripper for full CAT5 cables

Bought this stripper for obvious reasons. I made a ton of CAT5 cable for a network setup. Here's the problem: On a fat CAT5 with thick plastic covers, this thing is amazing. Works like a charm every time. On the other hand, if your customer buys a cheap CAT5 from a hardware store with a flimsy plastic shell, you'll find that you have to twist that thing many times to get a good cut on the shell. Overall it's a great little device, but 3 stars because there's no way to explain cheap CAT5 with a…

Ideal for all thin CAT6A cables, but not for thicker CAT6A cables

Works great with anything up to some CAT6A patch cords. vertical cable STP cat6a that I bought. Still 5 stars because it is advertised as a CAT5E stripper. Even made the mistake of breaking the small tab on the cord holder inside hoping this would bring the blade closer to the jacket but to no avail. Fortunately, it still shoots well on other cables. Hopefully future models can be made adjustable or a thicker CAT6A can be cut because in terms of feel and handling it's the best I've ever used.

  • Quality construction

  • Requires socket

This is my second CAT5/6 stripping tool and I love it!

I've been using specialty CAT5/CAT6 wire strippers for years and there's no better way to do it! If you are not using the tool for a single purpose, you are probably wasting your time. The other tool I have is a UTP/stp cable stripper. I really like this tool, the price is right and when I tested it with a couple of strippers it didn't cut the wires in the cable at all! Very clean track! I can't say that about my old one linked above. The ideal was good, but it was easier to cut the pairs in…
