Great building block suitable for laptop accessories

This is a really great building block. It doesn't connect to anything, you can fill it with concrete, and it can send you into a whirlpool of USB-C regret as you ponder false promises. It's also the first stone I've bought, which may complicate your attempt to make the job *even* more difficult. Strange for a brick. My only complaint is that brick isn't red? I'm not sure why they chose black metal for the color of this brick. But fortunately this brick is much lighter than the others. It has…

Constant disconnects from the MacBook Pro rendered this thing useless

Constant disconnects from my MacBook Pro while it was sleeping. I lifted the lid of my computer only to see a couple of notifications that the external hard drive was disconnected but not unmounted. A new notification was generated each time he woke up to check his mail. I sent it back. Very discouraged by the current state of USB-C docking stations. Not only is it Plugable, but also other docks I've tried. I resorted to an HDMI adapter, a USB hub, and a spare charger. It's an unsightly combo…

Fantastic for a 2016 MacBook Pro or later for single screen control.

I bought this device just over 6 months ago. So far everything is working very well. Let's face it, this device is very reasonably priced compared to the competition. Considering the price I am very satisfied with the performance. My setup is a 2017 MacBook Pro 15" with Touch Bar. I connected it to a 27" Acer 2k monitor via HDMI. Pros: - Works instantly. Everything is connected and I don't have to make any settings or install additional software. - Automatically charges my 15" MacBook when it's

Flawless for 2017 15 " MacBook Pro

I bought a 2017 15" MacBook Pror and originally bought a Belkin Hub. I didn't like that from the start. It only had 3 USB ports in total and my MacBook needed 2 (!) USB-C ports to work. Still, sometimes things went wrong and I had to unplug and plug everything back in. I was looking for a new hub that ideally only contained a USB-C cable and 4 USB ports. That's when I came across the plug-in station. I highly doubted it would work as advertised; However, everything works fine with a single…

It works really well

I'm using this with a 2018 Macbook Pro to connect a monitor, USB devices (Logitech keyboard, sometimes drives), external speakers and a 1920x1200 pixel monitor to connect. What I like: * You can plug a USB cable into your Mac and get power and all external peripherals. * The price was comparable to buying an 85W power adapter and a simple dongle. *I can use it to charge my computer when I'm working in my home office and keep the AC adapter that came with the computer in my briefcase, which…

Bad USB 3.0 speed and not suitable for HDD and DAW

I want everyone to know that plugable support is very good, although I had problems with this device and they helped me, the best Find solution to my problem by allowing me to return the product. I am planning to buy a real high end TB3 docking station from them to replace this product. I ran lengthy data transfer tests using the included passive TB3 cable and the 6ft active TB3 cable. USB 3.0 hard drive connected directly to laptop USB 3.0 port = 200MB/s USB 3.0 hard drive connected to docking

Cons
  • Useless features

Okay, but if you can get something else, take this.

This docking station has a lot of features for its price. 3 USB 3.0 ports on the back and 1 on the front. It also has an HDMI port that supports VESA Alternate Mode. It also features a headphone jack and delivers up to 85W of power. It seemed perfect for my Acer Spin 5. When I first got it I thought it was defective when it started tearing the screen when I was outputting video to my monitor. I suspect the dock is prematurely sending a video signal to the monitor which is causing this as I was…

Great for 16-inch MacBook Pro, with a small caveat

a cable. And in short, yes, it's great for those things. It charges my laptop (more on that below) and delivers expected Gigabit Ethernet and USB3 speeds. I'm grateful that Plugable chose to use a detachable cable instead of a short, fixed pigtail for this dock, as I don't use it on my desk but sit on the couch with the dock on the floor next to it. it, but not by much, so I'll most likely be switching to a 6ft cable soon. I've learned that USB-C cables aren't simple. I already had a 6ft cable…

Nice device but not the right solution for my application

This is my review of the Plug-in USB-C Dock with 85W charging. Based on previous positive experiences with plug-in products (try saying it three times faster!) I bought this USB-C dock with the intention of using it with a late 2016 13-inch MacBook Pro: Connect Two external 3.5" USB 3.0 bus-powered hard drives and occasionally charge your peripherals (Bluetooth headphones, iPhone, etc.) - no USB peripherals such as a keyboard, mouse or graphics tablet. Two bus-powered hard drives were too heavy
