Thanks very much! in Serial adapters

I'm a network engineer. My laptop (like many others) does not have a hardware serial port. This device turns your USB port into a serial port that works flawlessly to connect to Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls. In Windows 8 and 8.1, the drivers for this device will only work if you have a specific chipset. It drove me crazy until I found out what it was. My boss had several cheap adapters that never worked properly. It was just the wrong chipset. Don't buy those cheap "made in China"…

Other similar adapters I've bought from places like Fry's and Best Buy have given me problems - .

I am using this adapter to create a console connection between a Windows 7 laptop USB port and a serial port on several HP network switches. I use putty terminal to manage switches. Debian Linux gotchas

Excellent device. However, I had a few problems with it. #1) The Revain page says it is a female DB9, which is not the case. It fits the male connector on windows boxes. But everything was fine. I thought I need a woman so I got what I really need. #2) I work with two computers, a Dell 5414 laptop (Debian Buster) and a Raspberry Pi 3+ (Raspian Stretch).
