This is not an instant read thermometer. I'm sure it's a good thermometer, but it doesn't work as advertised (instant read) so I returned it for a refund.

Junk out of the box didn't work. Insert new batteries 3 times. Still does not work. This is probably why the update price has dropped so much. Left it in a box. He stated that he would be working in 2 weeks. Just turned it on. Strange. Unreliable choice.

I use it to make baby food. I've already bought three. The first two quickly stopped working. Now I'm using the third one and it's still working, but it's already starting to turn off spontaneously at the worst possible moment🤨

Update: This is NOT instant. I still use it because I don't have more dollars to spend, so I use it for guesswork. It's easy to see when the reading will finally stop. Reads slowly, not within 3 seconds. The cooked ham checked the temperature for too long to reach 200 degrees. When that happened, I took the ham out of the oven, cut it open, and it was red off the bone. Not exactly. Wouldn't recommend it.

I bought this specifically for making sweets but now I use it to cook meat as well. I used to overcook my meat to be safe, but now I feel so much better just using this thermometer. I love how easy it is when cooking meat because you just stick it in the thickest part and set up the digital reader and the numbers are big enough to read. I realized the downside of this thermometer when using it to make candy is that it doesn't have a clip to attach to the pan so I have to hold it with an oven…
