NMEA 2000 Issues: Car Electronics

I bought this radio head unit to work with my NMEA2000 network. It works, it doesn't work. Poly-Planar says it's not their problem? Simrad says it's not their problem either? All electronics have just been reinstalled. So much for customer service? Rather poor customer service.

Pros
  • Adjustable Display Backlight
Cons

Nicely made, good sound, great customization

I really like this unit. The phone tray is outdated due to its small size. Modern phones are bigger than they used to be, but they have Bluetooth, so who cares. Lots of settings and good performance. It is very well made and has excellent radio reception. Very important.

Pros
  • Preset memory and last setting on power off Returns to the same mode on power on
Cons
  • Almost never

Stereo worked fine for a few hours at first but then stalled and didn't play. It still showed the track/song information on the scrollable display, but none of the functions worked. I contacted the seller [email only] who sent me to the factory support number [never replied or returned the voice message he left]. Contacted the seller again who said "sorry". Maybe Revane needs to fix their relationship.

Pros
  • Built into their receiver (front) and input (rear) - the unit connects to Poly-Planar and their speakers
Cons
  • Expensive

Nicely made, good sound, very adjustable

Pros
  • Multiple inputs available (extra USB in, front SD card in)
Cons
  • Good but not great

Thought it was a great stereo system but had to change my guess.

Stereo was good for the first few hours but then blocked and didn't want to play. It still showed the track/song information on the scrollable display, but none of the functions worked. I contacted the seller [email only] who sent me to the factory support number [never replied or returned the voice message he left]. Contacted the seller again who said "sorry". Maybe Revane needs to fix their relationship.

Pros
  • Built into their receiver (front) and input (rear) - the device connects to Poly-Planar, their speakers
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine

So far happy with this head unit. I'm currently testing the sound quality with a pair of cheap full size 8 ohm KLH 3-way home speakers. I cannot recognize the sound from my Pioneer receiver. There are 2 different levels of sound adjustment. 1 for bass and treble and another 5 band EQ. Real bass. Compared to Pyle's latest $50 Marine main unit. Pyle has slightly better dynamic sound with X-Bass enabled. Then it doesn't overheat but turns off, which Planar didn't do even in 2 weeks burn test. For…

Pros
  • Adjustable display backlight
Cons
  • A little shabby
