Description of Optimized Powertrax 9204302700 No-Slip Traction System for DANA 30, 27 Spline Open Axles

Combines the smooth operation of a limited-slip differential, with the traction performance of a locking differential. A precise synchronization mechanism eliminates the ratcheting sounds typical of other locking differentials. Special gear and spring design reduce the backlash and therefore driveline windup. Only ultra strength material is used which is 67% stronger than titanium. Simple installation because no ring and pinion set-up, no special tools or oils, are required; step by step model specific instructions are provided with every kit.

Wrong guarantee! Stay away!

Do not buy! The Powertrax warranty is a joke! After only driving 10km with my device it broke and they will not cover! Never do business with this company again!

  • Brings joy

Great product! suitable for drive train and transmission

I have one in the front of my 99 TJ D-30. I can't even say it exists in 2WD. No clicks, no weird steering issues, nothing. The feeling is the same as with an open differential. On the track at 4 hi or lo it works great, paired with my Eaton eLocker in the rear of a D44 I have the best of both worlds. A few springs were missing from my delivery and I was promptly sent a replacement.

  • New

  • I don't really like it, everything is fine

Slightly loose on dry pavement

I have this locker on the front and back of my 2000 TJ. In 2H mode on dry roads, the Locker causes slight understeer from reticle steering inputs, then suddenly responds with a large steering angle when the Locker releases the outside wheel. It's an odd but manageable effect. At 4 o'clock on dry pavement, the front fender liner creates many surprises in the steering, but usually 4 hours on the pavement does not work, so this is the driver's choice. On the track, the lockers work perfectly and I

Best Mod for $$$

You won't find a cheaper mod that gives you the power of this locker. I bought it after failing to get past an obstacle on the trail and having to turn back. I wasn't willing to put a Detroit locker in the rear because of gear ratio issues. This frontlocker worked with current translations. This locker doesn't click or click at all. In 4wd it is 100% blocked and works fine. It was easy to install following the instructions that came with it. After installation, I got back on the trail and…

catastrophic failure. Expensive towing bill. Cracked Axle Assembly

BUYER ATTENTION! This product lasted 2000 miles in my car before catastrophically failing. This was only with light road use! During disassembly, I found that the PowerTrax was completely defective. When it failed, part of the bracket became caught between the carrier and impeller, causing extensive damage to the carrier, impeller, ring gear, bearings and axles. Almost every component in the axle housing was destroyed. PowerTrax refused to reimburse me for my failure, let alone reimburse the…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers

  • Hard to tell
