I bought this as a refill for a refillable leather journal from the same brand. It took a bit of time to get used to the lined pages after writing on unlined pages for a long time, especially since it seems to be similar to a college/narrow rule. The paper is clearly hand made and has a unique texture to it, which handles pencil well, but for me as a lefty, ink smeared on it too easily, and is somewhere between a smooth texture like some journals, and textured paper as might be found in sketch…

The texture of these pages is unlike I've used before. It is a joy to write on this paper. I've used fountain pens, ball point pens, and gel/rollerball pens on this. The binding is strong and has held up well for my use.I tried to use this in a travelers notebook cover but it was too thick. I use the notebook by itself.

I purchased this because I prefer to write in lined notebooks since I cannot write straight to save my life. This was one of the few available in the size that I needed because I have a Crimson Chain book cover which is interchangeable, but they only had unlined and I couldn't find a lined one in regular stores. My first impression is that the stack of paper was thick and binding sturdy. I was not aware the product is made in India. I for some reason thought it was US made, but not sure why. I looked at a lot of journal refills the day I ordered. The cotton vintage paper is sturdy and I like the ecru color (off white).When I opened the journal, it had a dead ant pressed on the first page and many pages have bits of the natural paper making process. This refill book works great. It’s one of the only refill pads I could find that was unlined. The quality of the paper was just like I wanted it to be. The 240 pages is a great value for the price but fits a little tight in my journal cover. The original book inside my cove had a 200 page refill.

For the price this journal is adequate. Some of the paper is incredibly thin that even a regular pen appears to bleed through. I had some issues using finer ball point pens as well, the paper is so textured it gets caught and it feels as though you’re fighting against the paper to get a thought out.There is also random yellow spots and plastic pieces on some on the pages. I needed a refill for my journal cover and this worked however I won’t be repurchasing this when I’m done.

I will never write on any other type of paper again. I love, love, love these notebooks! The cotton paper made without chopping down a gazillion trees makes it better. If you love a paper with sort of rough texture but not so as it messes with your writing, try these notebooks!

The notebook is simply marvelous. I write a lot and this is perfect for me. I pages are smooth and thick, great for pencil or any pen. These are nicely bound and there's a hard cardstock cover so you can use it as a stand alone notebook or you can buy their leather journal cover. It feels good to use something that didn't kill trees. This is a high quality notebook. I will surely buy more.

What I loved about this product is that I have so much space to write on. I am currently writing in a prayer journal and it's just nice to know when I'm done with the leather refillable journal sleeve I have currently I can just refill it with this sturdy and well-crafted journal. I also think it's so cool that the percent of the profits help kids out in Zambia Africa through the Tehila Trust which promotes the prevention of child cruelty.

I recently filled up a gorgeous leather journal I had received as a gift and needed to refill it with blank pages. This refill is high quality with great paper that writes smoothly and is beautifully lined pages from end to end. I love the reinforced covers as they stay firmly in the leather cover and are not flopping around getting in the way while writing. Great product delivered in perfect condition, I will be reordering in the future. :)

This is exactly what I was looking for, lined paper that has a kraft paper feel to it. The texture is little rough compared to normal smooth paper. It is hard to explain for me, for the most part all i have been able to find are unlined (blank) notebooks for refills but I wanted one with lines to help me when I take notes. It fit my leather case perfectly, true to size 5.75 x 8.25. I have not tested it out using my fountain pen or my 0.7mm Gel Pens. Once I do I will update review.

The acid-free pages, and the number of pages are good. However, it is really strange notebook. The pages are soft and flimsy, with 'dirt?' and uneven places.

Truthfully, I don't leave many reviews, but I had to for this journal. I scoured the gigantic number of journals available on the internet and am so lucky to have stumbled onto this one. It is gorgeous, sturdy, and the pages are wonderful! They almost have a texture to them, but not at all in a bad way. They're not flimsy and don't bleed. Plus, the greatest part is that it's family-owned and they donate proceeds to Tehlia, a non-profit organization that promotes the prevention of child cruelty!

It’s worth the money and I’ll buy the refills again. Side note: It’s not great for calligraphy pen/ink with nibs but works very good with ballpoint pens.

This is an excellently crafted notebook with wonderful, authentic paper. The paper had a bit of a rough texture to it if that bothers you, but I personally like the "crafted” feel of it and it’s perfect for writing on. Pencil drawing might be slightly difficult, but I love the feel and size of this notebook and the family who created it.

Bought this leather bound Journal for my wife. The good thing about it is I bought more pages she can insert if she fills the journal up. She liked it very much. Even comes with a nice pen but I also bought a "Space Pen" that can write at any angle.

This is a good little journal (5x8) for writing personal reflections or writing specific comments or notes on brief issues. BUT, it is NOT a stand-alone item. You would absolutely need to purchase the outer leather cover that goes with it if you intend to keep using this journal and brand going forward. As you can see in the pics, the BINDING is fairly tight and has a good grip on the pages but the front and back covers are flimsy and will not stand the test of time. Also, the description says…

I was looking for a good unlined journal. It says 125gsm but I felt that the thickness of the paper was thin. I was hoping that, although it was cotton paper, the quality was gonna be there. I used a Pilot Precise V5 and some of the ink bled through or was really visible on the other side of the page.Unfortunately I discarded the journal after using the first page of the book. Not what I expected :(

It was the promise of cotton that drew me to consider this journal.And when it arrived I was delighted to find that the weight and consistency of the pages was right for my purposes.Initially ordered the lined. When I saw the difference in value for the unlined I order the unlined.A5 format and pages which do not bleed makes for enjoyable notes.Singing praises for the communication as it is rare and extraordinary.
