I wanted this sharpener to be the best but it only chewed crayon (I use Prismacolors which aren't cheap). It has been recommended by the author of several popular adult coloring pages. I bought a soft lead sharpener (3083) for my Prismacolor Premiere. This works very well. I had many problems with the prism tip cracking and the tip falling out. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong - this seems to be a common problem with Prismas since the company started making them in Mexico. I have two Prisma sharpeners and the Pro Art works much better. I only had two broken points with Pro Art compared to numerous broken points with Prisma sharpeners.
