Wiring instructions are terrible - wire sizes are too close to tell which black is correct. There is no size difference between what they call "small" black and "bigger" black. Even removing the "Key On" cable doesn't fix the short. Yes, it provides 12V. But when the key is off or removed, it drains the main battery. Looks like they forgot the diode on the board. I missed the return window. Big. It turned out to be $40 but there is nothing to present. Get away from this thing.

Works. Depending on the application, this may be a bit cumbersome for some. Mine is used on a ClubCar 48v and one of the problems was finding a place to mount it. Got this to convert the voltage from 48v to 12v for an electric golf cart. This allows me to run standard 12v cells through a regular lighter/socket or inside without disturbing the balance of the battery itself. It should work the same on any cart or scooter within its voltage range. I measured the output to be a solid 12.8V on the fly. There is a lot of confusion in these reviews about how it should be wired and I don't blame them. But maybe my experience will help: the device marks the input and the button as thick/thin red wires, but they have almost the same cross-section and are difficult to distinguish from each other.
