Failed in less than 2 years with light use

It had a nice warm sound but died after 2 years of very little use. Not very "affordable" if it's only good for 80 hours of use.

Pros
  • Looks good
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Great little preamp

Compact, adjustable impedance and capacitance to match cartridge. Connects my HK T60 turntable with a Shure V15 Type III cartridge to a NAD AV receiver. no noise Never sounded better.

Pros
  • Outstanding all-round performance
Cons
  • Available in black only

I have to say that initially I didn't notice much of a difference from the phono input of the Kenwood Basic C1 preamp I was using. I've found that the more hours I play the Pro-Ject phono stage, the better it sounds. I've played maybe 30-40 hours and the bass is much tighter and clearer. The soundstage was the biggest difference, I am currently using Ortofon Blue on a Pro-ject Classic. I love this phono

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Expensive

Better Than Most: Home Theater

Better than most. Brings my recordings to life with a very nice rich sound. Sounds fantastic for the price. High power unit, switchable impedance is very convenient and eliminates rumble. You could pay more if you wanted, but it doesn't have to be. I would recommend .edit: 2 years later it still sounds great, I still use it after updating other things.

Pros
  • Preamplifier
Cons
  • Long time

Problem solved and sound quality greatly improved

I bought this mainly for subsonic filters. I did my best to isolate my turntable but I had a rumble that was causing my subwoofer cone to wobble and pop which can really ruin the bass. Due to the limited space, my speakers sit on the same surface as my turntable. I installed isolating feet on the speakers, a turntable platform, made sure my hand and carriage didn't match, made sure my records weren't warped, nothing worked. This preamp solved the problem and also sounds a lot better than the…

Pros
  • Receiver and amplifier
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
