I bought these to paint while watching TV in the evening. The pencil colors are nice and you can get enough saturation for simple things that don't need high quality paint. My complaint has to do with the quality of the wood the pens are made of. It's very cheap and the pencils just don't sharpen properly. These watercolor pencils didn't convince me at all! I really love wax based pencils but they are nowhere near this quality. When my box arrived I couldn't wait to try it out. But when I was rummaging through the box, three of the pencils broke the stems. I always use a sharp, good manual sharpener for watercolor pencils because they are more fragile than regular colored pencils. These pens are beyond fragile. As I said, 3 had broken cores. They are good and the color scheme is good. The hardness of the pencil lead makes it difficult to dissolve in watercolors. I've found that toning down the color a bit before trying to spread it helps. However, I haven't used it extensively yet. Maybe using it on a different paper would make it easier to convert to watercolor. (I used cheap watercolor paper. Like that.) The trays that the pencils come in are VERY flimsy. I'll glue stiffeners in, otherwise I'll have to take them out of the box…

I'm no expert on watercolor pencils. The pens arrived quickly and come in a very nice box, however the box comes packaged with 3 pen trays and is packed very tightly making it difficult to get a second set of pens out of the box when I first saw the pack opened. I thought maybe I had been sent the wrong number of pens but after some fiddling I was able to remove the 2nd tray. Pencils appear to be packaged by color which is very nice. I spent money on it. I really like her a lot. They're round and tactile, allowing me to twist the pencil so it stays on point even when the hexagonal tabs aren't digging into my fingers. The pigments are rich and soft, easy to apply, the colors blend well on their own, even better with a colorless pen blender. The watercolor aspect - it took me a few minutes to get the hang of it since I first started using watercolor pencils, but after trying it I LOVE the effect! It adds a texture to the work
