I am happy with the size of this light and am using it for the 4 foot aquarium you see at fish stores. My tank is acrylic so it doesn't have vertical edges like a glass tank. It has an acrylic panel with holes cut in the top to provide more strength. The light just sits on top of this acrylic top panel. It has nothing to elevate it above the aquarium. Pros: The controls are easy to understand. The instructions are clear. Tank this device is limited. It will not fit a 36" long tank, rimmed or unrimmed. The tank in the picture is 20 gallons long. The PSU wall connector is very large, it takes up 2 spaces on the PSU in the outermost position. This was a major lighting upgrade for an old 15 gallon aquarium that now houses native freshwater minnows, newts, crabs and a legless salamander to name but a few to name. . Once the algae growth had been tackled and the water was eventually relatively clear again, this LED aquarium light was a good light to use to bring out the colors along with its lighting options, dimming and timer features. I recently upgraded my aquarium and needed some light. The previous light stuck to the lid, but the new lids are just glass. I decided to try this. It was packaged very well so it was not damaged in transit. This is the perfect length for my 75 gallon tank, but unfortunately the small parts that need to stick to the rim of the tank are too small for anything with a frame.
