These cables were an exact replacement for

I installed my new cables and they were an exact replacement. At 78 they should outlive me. I last changed the springs in 2012. My old door had to have the bottom hinges removed to attach the cable, so I replaced the casters at the same time. I ordered casters to replace them all. You need a good lube. I think I neglected maintenance after a good inspection.

Pros
  • handy piece
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.

Perfect replacement for a 7ft garage door cord

Perfect replacement for a broken garage door cord. Please note these cables are highly tensioned and you will need a set of tension rods for safe removal/installation. First, I watched a few videos on YouTube. A very simple project that saved me nearly $300 on garage door repairs. Again, don't start this project without knowing how to safely relieve stress on the cables.

Pros
  • Ideal for a small home
Cons
  • Easily snapped

Works great - building materials

I did not check the size of the wire on the garage door before ordering this door. When it arrived and I compared the cables, I found that the original was probably 3/32". This 1/8" cable fits the drum, works great, and will probably hold up much better than a smaller diameter cable Style Highly recommended for garage door wire repairs Door springs have been balanced and nylon rollers installed Quiet, smooth, safe Life is in harmony again.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • Frequency

Actually larger diameter and shorter than the old one.

When I removed the old cable and compared it to the new cable, I was a little concerned that it might not work. The diameter was larger than the old one and shorter by at least a foot. It turned out to work fine, no problems. Most likely, due to the larger diameter, the new cable will last longer than the old one. Length seems normal. Maybe my old cords were for an 8ft door and mine is 7ft. All is well.

Suitable for building materials

Perfect replacement for my obsolete (26 year old) original cables, one of which just broke. They are a bit thicker than the original but perfect for the drum. I watched a few videos before attacking the project and had no problems. However, I had to balance the door because the springs weren't tensioned enough. I'm not sure when they lost so much tension in the process, but it was an easy fix. Some reviews indicated that there were issues with the length of these cables. I found that they…

Perfect fit for my 7ft garage door!

These cables fit my 7ft garage door perfectly. I removed the old cables and tested them alongside the new ones. The new cable was the same length and spaced less than an inch from the first old cable; However, the second old cable was several inches longer for unknown reasons (the original installer may have custom-made his own cables). The difference in length of my old cables simply required me to unscrew a cable drum to rotate or re-index it so both cables start with the same wrap around…

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Durable

. They are significantly thicker than the cheap cables my licensed insured professional garage door installer installed installed in the rear when I bought my 180 lb insulated two car garage door screen. They also used unnecessary rollers, mounts and improper springs (one 29" and the other 22"). The 22-inch spring failed prematurely (as expected). I ended up re-doing the rig myself and using high quality parts from the hinges, pulleys, springs to those much higher quality thick cables. They fit
