📏 Magnetic Protractor Inclinometer with Backlight for Accurate Horizontal Measurements Review

I use regular table saws when I don't see a need. My motto is: Measure with a micrometer, cut with a meat cleaver. But installing solar panels on a pole or RV and getting the best mounting angle is the way to go. The best device to have on hand. Can be any latitude that the internet reaches. The magnetic base is not useful here. Fairly readable in bright sunlight with some hand shading.

The main use I had planned for this protractor was to measure the grade percentage of a footpath in our area that goes up and down a slope. I was able to start direct % slope readings within 5 minutes of installing the batteries. It's accurate, versatile, and easy to use. A bubble level at the top makes it even more valuable as one can easily enter a true zero level as an initial measurement. worth your money.

Overall, I like the idea and features of this item, but an apparent quality control issue prevents me from giving higher marks. The left and right sides of this item appear correct when placed on a flat surface but the bottom does not as the spirit level can be swung back and forth from left to right like a baby swing just enough to adjust the angle change. I will most likely try to shave the peak but am disappointed that the quality check did not find this.

I like that this thing has a magnetic base and a spirit level at the top. The magnet is good and strong. It also has a null function so you can use it on uneven ground (like a portable table saw) and then measure the ideal 45 degree blade angle. User friendliness; Has its own carry case. No regret. I was very disappointed with it at first. He swayed a lot, just trying to sit on a flat slab of granite, plus or minus 1/2 a degree anyway! I measured a deflection of 0.008" on a "flat" base. So I mounted it upside down in my cutter and bored it. Now it sticks securely to any flat surface and keeps showing the perfect 0 degrees after zeroing It wasn't flat at first, but that was an easy fix for most who wanted to use this tool at all.

I like this a lot better than I thought. So far it has been very accurate and very sensitive with only minor adjustments to the angles. This article claims to be accurate to within 0.1 degrees at 90 degrees, but it isn't. I can set my saw to an exact 90 degree right angle with a brand new blade, and this gauge reads 89.2 degrees, almost a full degree. This may be due to the base not being flat as others have reported.
