Not bad. Good tool for beginners

This is not something you would use in a work environment. Accuracy is fine. The controls are fine. For the first multimeter, well, okay. The body is not very strong. One of the probes arrived bent! Comparing it with my calibrated desktop meter showed some erroneous reports. For the price it does what you would expect from something in this price range. It can confirm continuity, read the value of a resistor and tell you if the battery is charged.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Does not go with everything

Good general purpose multimeter with many features

I really didn't expect this multimeter to be able to do so many things. It can measure traditional volts, amps and resistance as well as capacitance, frequency (up to 1kHz) and temperature. It has a USB port on the back so it can be used with an external computer for data logging. I have several voltmeters and I think this is the best I have. I've used it to measure AC and DC voltage, resistance, capacitance and temperature. Haven't tried logging data yet, but looking forward to using it for…

It's not very accurate which tops the point.

This is not a cheap device, so I decided to test it in different ways. First of all I noticed that I had never heard of this brand and did not find any real information in it. In the documentary was another brand name that also didn't have a standout product line. So is this a new startup? Not sure, so does it match other higher level voltmeters? No, it really isn't. I compared it to my 20 year old True RMS meter which has served me well. In a market flooded with inexpensive gauges, prices in…

Expensive but good for basic homeowner needs

I'm writing this as someone with no electrical experience, rather I'm writing this as a homeowner who needs to fix the occasional minor problem. . This unit seems a bit pricey compared to what's out there (for what you get), but for a homeowner's basic needs, it works well for me. We had problems with our solar system. Note that the vendor's ability to troubleshoot was poor at best and the process of sourcing technology etc is lengthy. Luckily our utility company came out when they saw our…

No better than $30 for most people

I ordered this multimeter along with another "useless" model from another manufacturer for $31. They have the same scale settings and both have autorange. I compared both models to a non-ranged Harbor Freight unit that cost $25 eight years ago. It's the only device that measures to within microamps (useful for high-end lab work). In addition, all devices solve the same problems for most homeowners. I just checked the voltage on the battery and found the following: the cheaper the device, the…

I was interested in the USB data port

I was very interested in the data collection capabilities of the USB port and the PC software. Since I didn't see a review on this feature, I decided to explore it myself. The first thing I did was see how "off" the measurement was compared to my BK 390 and Fluke 77. I measured the voltage of a 9 volt battery. This EM6180 fluctuated between 9.43 and 9.44 volts. The BK 390 was stable at 9.43 volts while the Fluke 77 fluctuated between 9.44 and sometimes 9.45 volts. My BC was calibrated a few…
