Best Thread Tension in Oil Filters and Accessories

The bolt threads on this assembly were tight and required unusual force to fully install. The threads were taut after the first full turn. This could be a problem with the limited production line when forming the threads. I wouldn't discount its filtration efficiency. If the installation was performed by an inexperienced person, then the problem may not have fully appeared. The Purolator brand is characterized by high reliability and good quality. Unfortunately there is a problem with this…

Use it on our Trailblazer.

I use this on my Trailblazer, it's one of the best filter options. Some people are now noticing that the filter material tares on some classic filters, but I personally cut the PureONE filter after use and it showed no signs of failure. I base this filter on a good foundation. on the filter material, filter design and the appearance of the bypass valve. Most people rely on installing it, then removing it after 3000+ miles and throwing it away.

Best Value Filters

Purolator PureOne filters offer exceptional filtration at a reasonable price as members of the Bob is the Oil Guy forum can attest. They may not be as good as Mobil1 filters, but they are much more expensive. I use this filter and Pennzoil Ultra on my 2005 Colorado with OCI 10K mi and feel great. It was interesting to go to the Purolator website and see that this filter can hold 31 grams of contaminants. That's metal for 31 paperclips! Good to know the filter is made in the USA. I find it odd…

Oil filter Purolator Classic series.

I have been using Purolator oil filters for over a decade. The Classic series offers step-in protection with quality parts in my opinion. I used to use Pure One filters but became overly concerned with over filtration and insufficient oil pressure at hard throttle openings. I feel more confident with the classic series. Status: 10/2017. I noticed that these filters have changed. Ever since they switched from blue to red my oil filter tool won't hold up. It seems that they made the filter…

Works well but not for long life

I use full synthetic natural gas oil along with 25% capacity (sold per quart) Lucas Oil Stabilizer every 5000 miles. 5 20 in winter, 5 30 in summer. It works well, the oil is always clean and free from bad smells. If I follow the oil life reset in the car I will go from 6000 to 6700 miles. I don't like to drive that long because then the oil turns black; GM says you can follow the life monitor, but they want to sell you a different car. I never checked the oil on either occasion; I'm sure it's…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
