Python Spill Fish Tank Switch Review

I love my Python - I can't imagine doing water changes without it. However, this is the second time I have had to purchase this flow switch for my system. The plastic screw shears off and the switch stops moving the ball, freezing flow wherever the switch fails. I am stuck with a half full tank - not the end of the world as I just cleaned my 10 gallon tank but if I had already started with my 120 gallon tank I would be very miserable. Looking for a way to make it more durable.

After years of flawless service, my Python check valve broke. The plastic rod connecting the control handle to the ball valve broke off, leaving the valve closed, but the handle was free to rotate. Python is *plastic* and should be treated as such. I operate this valve just by pressing the tip of my finger. It turned easily enough to close the valve with a thumb snap. I hope this one lasts as long as the original.

UPDATE: Scrap - THIS TIME THE REPLACEMENT BALL JOINT ENDED AFTER TWO USES. 2 times boom. Same thing - the tiny piece of plastic connecting the head screw is too flimsy. This is by design to keep you buying it. Disgusting junk. The hose works so well I don't know how to maintain my large cichlid tank without it. BUT the ball joint has broken three times in five years. That's ridiculous. It should never break as it is a simple mechanism. Planned obsolescence I guess. If you love your Python hose…
